Am I missing something, or is this just an SS bat with all black stickers?
-
:D
each to their own right?
new stickers, branding - personally i quite like it :)
-
Wasnt saying they were bad, I actually like the stickers. Just genuinely thought I may have been missing something
-
too many models and stickers being released without significant change. Its like oh i have 100 clefts available, let me create new stickers and get rid of those 100 clefts
Just look at the website https://www.sstoncricket.com/ (https://www.sstoncricket.com/)
Its crazy...i mean they keep bringing new models , without retiring any old ones and 95% of bats have same shape
-
dont personally find that an issue
the more the merrier
spolit for choice

In fairness @i12breakfree - most brands will have stacks of clefts/finished bats, as well as softs, needing to be cleared out as a result of 2020. Bringing out new labels or a new bat model or 2 is the best most will be able to achieve this year (see GM/GN etc).

Completely agree with that but as long as its done with a plan and there is some structure to it. I don't know but when i look at SS range its all over the place - they have White edition, S range, Camo Range, falcon range and the list is huge. they need to consolidate and then add new models.

Agree SS and CA main culprits - Wouldnt be so bad if each was a specific shape... - no logic to any of it.
Without specifics, the price difference in some models is huge, and then you look at the bat and there's not much in it... its all very confusing.

Let's tally things up.
From the SS range - 26 EW & 20 KW
Vintage range - 7 EW
Retro range - 10 EW 1 KW
TON range - 15 EW and 7 KW
Master range - 11 EW and 3 KW
T20 range - 5 EW and 5 KW
White - 6 EW and 6 KW
S range - 7 EW AND 4 KW
Camo - 7 EW and 5 KW
Falcon - 2 EW
You have 96 different EW bats to choose from. Not only that - the names of the bats will confuse anyone - why is a Vintage 6.0 the lowest graded Vintage, but Camo 7.0 is the highest graded Camo? I've not even counted their Player's sharpie'd bats! You have 51 different Kashmir willow bats too - I've only counted the SH sized ones!
Now imagine being a retailer in India. 🤣 For some shops I've seen, if they got 1 of each of the adult bats, they'd be pretty close to fully stocked! I'm with @i12breakfree here, there's too much, and no consistency. (Coming from a big SS fan)
-
Heritage range? Masuri TON - does that count?
And they really are all the same shape, apart from the Stallion from what I can see
And I’m also a huge fan but no idea why you’d pay top dollar just for different stickers

If you work that one out, please let me know what is wrong with me :D

Presumably an accurate retro range would have to be based on the original Stuart Surridge bats whose IP they stole?
-
their bats seem to perform, and do so consistently
something other brands perhaps dont manage
also they seem to sponsor so many players - hence get so much exposure.
-
yes agreed they make good bats. Bats perform well...the player grade ones are some of the best pinging bats i have seen...
Its just the range they need to fix...too many models out there :)
-
trouble is, i am guessing their business model is working - selling lots and lots
hence they are probably thinking, "if its not broke, why fix it"?
-
All this before considering all the other brands they make for...

Would certainly hope so seeing as they are the largest manufacturer in the world. Never had a bad SS/TON but also never a truly stunning one either. Cater for all price points and as has been said probably get as much exposure if not more than all the other brands

Not sure other brands bats don't perform consistently. I personally wouldn't let a bat go out if it didn't seem like it would perform. I know other brands are the same, so I can certainly vouch for a few.
