Title: Damage on Edge - Options?

Hey folks. A mate's bat has some damage on the edge. What is the way to go forward in regards repairing or mending the damage? Just some glue and tape?

Sand it down lightly to remove the splintered bits, get plenty of glue into the crack that remains, wrap tightly in parcel tape and leave overnight, light sand again to remove the excess glue and then wrap with fibreglass bat tape.
