Much like the standard of cricket
As much as I agree, that won't stop me watching highlights of a Poundland David Warner blasting 6s every time Cricket Australia decides to upload them.
-
One thing I have always been curious of about the BBL is the players auction system? Its arguably the next best T20 league in the world after IPL but you never really hear about players striking big and being sold for millions. Anyone know how it works?
-
There are some dreadful lip warmers going on. It's like the Hills Have Eyes.

BBL free market, so all behind closed doors and can sign whoever they want.

Was a pretty good game actually. James Vince looked in great touch. One of the Hobart players hit one of the biggest sixes I’ve ever seen.
I’d take the bbl commentary team (apart from Damien Fleming) over the ipl any day of the week too.
-
That was some 100 from hales

Am I the only one that doesn’t understand this comment? Seems to be a reasonable standard to me, arguably higher that the blast, not much behind the IPL really.
I’ve never watched a game and though wow this lot are shocking. If anything Australian cricket, purely due to the nature of a 6 team first class comp is an excellent standard?
-
Agreed it’s higher quality than the blast. It’s gone down hill over the years with less international stars in it. Probably why they have super subs in it
Cricket Aus have ruined this Tournament by making it is far too long, introducing stupid bash boost points and time outs. Don’t mind the middle over powerplay though

In a normal year I'd agree on the length of the BBL, been a bit of a lifesaver this year though!

Hales has to be back in the England T20 setup now, surely?
-
Hales is playing really well and he seems to have had enough time for attitude adjustment. So, yes, Morgan should be thinking about him.
-
If Hales isn't selected for the T20 squad after the standard of his performances then selectors and Morgan need to give their heads a shake. Can understand in ODI where he maybe doesn't have the ability of Roy or Bairstow to run hard and it's harder to just hit yourself back into the game, but in T20 he's outrageously good.

Vince robbed of a 100 by Tye. Bowled a wide on purpose so he couldn’t
-
Nar I’m not buying he did it on purpose.
-
Absolutely intentional
-
Shocking if he did.
-
Looked intentional to me. No rules against it just falls under the grey area of sportsmanship.
I suppose that's an outdated term these days, if there is no law against it then anything goes.
The bowler is not trying to get the batsman out, which is th bit I have a problem with....but within or at least not against the laws
-
Guy a few years ago got banned for doing the exact same thing
-

If you didn't think he did that on purpose then you might need to go to specsavers!
Probably a bit annoyed that he was bowling dross and dropped Vince himself when he was on 23.
-
Doesn't look great on the highlights, Tye couldn't have looked much more guilty right after he bowled it.
-
Elite honesty
-
I felt the same until I saw Hughes leaving the previous 3 balls to try and give Vince a go at it. When you’ve been thrashed the last thing you want is the opposition drawing the game out like that, you’d just want to get off. Still a bit of a (No Swearing Please) thing to do, but have a degree of understanding for why.

As it goes I am blind as a bat. Still don’t think it was done totally on purpose though.

Intentional or not, it's not the bowler's job to ensure that the batter gets to 100.
If people blame anyone for Vince not getting a well deserved hundred they should be looking at his batting partner.
To me, in between balls it looked like Vince was indicating to hughes that the hundred wasn't important. With Vince on 98 and the team needing 5, Hughes smashed a 4, and then proceeded to block the next 3. bit of a sudden change of plan.
-
I think Vince's reaction shows that the hundred actually would have meant quite a lot to him.
They had the game won regardless and T20 hundreds don't come around very often. No, it's not Tye's responsibility to let Vince get the 100 and nobody asked him to serve up a dolly that could be smashed for the winning boundary. However, it's not a good look when it seems like you vindictively decided to get a 'win' by denying another player a milestone out of spite.

I said this to the missus at the time, it looked as if Vince was telling Hughes to just get the team home, he hit the 4 and then blocked out. If anything it put the pressure on Vince from then. They alluded to it on commentary that Hughes shouldn’t have even been consulting Vince, Vince was always going to say the 100 didn’t matter. Hughes should’ve just made the decision to either see the game home or get Vince to 100. By talking to him every ball it was drawing more attention to the situation which brought pressure.

On a side note, it’s become quite obvious (if people didn’t know it already) that Ricky Ponting is a very astute thinker about the game. Not only was he an amazing player technically but his insights into the game and his knowledge is brilliant and he seems to have a real knack for calling stuff
The amount of times he’s been on commentary this season and predicted something that transpired a short time after is silly. You can just tell the guy lives and breathes cricket.

Elite sportsmanship. Suraj Randiv and Dilshan cooked this kind of thing up with a no ball to Sehwag on 99* years ago, ended up with SL Cricket handing out a ban for Randiv and a fine for Dilshan. Bet we won't see that this time round!

Another T20 title for Dan Christian as well.

I didn't see it, but it was about time James Vince had the last laugh.
