Has anybody ever used a Kookaburra StanceBeam? Video below :

Any feedback? They look very cool on the video but doubt they work that well in practicality?

Leicestershire have posted some stuff on their social media using it, no idea how accurate it is mind...

Where’s that mate, can’t see it on their Twitter? Cheers

Try their Instagram, there was some stories and I think a post or two from training

Followed the instructions and watched the videos but had so much trouble calibrating the one I purchased at Xmas that I gave up. It's still sitting in the too hard basket. Am going to give it another try at some point but jeepers it's frustrating trying to get it working.

Yep - bought one for my son about a year ago. Impressions mixed and as a result sits around largely unused.
Pro's:
- Stick your smartphone on a tripod and get all your shots recorded. No deadtime in between a continuously running video. Nicely catalogued in terms of each shot i.e. have a look at the one that has the highest bat speed (or the slowest) and see the shot you played.
- I think everything in the vertical plane is good: Backlift angle, angle at impact, follow through angle, max speed, speed at impact etc. All seems reasonably accurate in terms of watching video and results. All this helps with bat speed, timing etc.
Con's:
- Fiddly to calibrate. Can take many attempts!
- Don't think anything in the horizontal plane is even slightly accurate i.e. categorization of on/off-side is rubbish. Have seen 80% categorized as on-side yet most shots were on off-side in the video.
- Cannot deal (or even correctly identify) cross-bat shots e.g. cuts, pulls, sweeps etc. And if it categorizes a shot incorrectly as this then you don't get the benefit of the vertical bat shot analysis that seems quite good.
- No recording mode (their main competitor smartcricket/batsense) has this e.g. start it, walk out into the middle, play an innings and download your stats. (This was on roadmap as coming soon a year ago)

Might be worth making another topic for this question but I will try here first.
Does anyone know about the accuracy of any of these type of devices in terms of bat speed?

I have smart crickets 'bat sense' which appears to be an identical product as if were to write a review it would be very similar to that! I really struggled with the calibration, with bat sense you have to wave it around in a figure of 8 and it would take me many attempts to get it to work. I eventually spoke to the customer support and he told me to spin myself around 360 deg whilst doing the figure of 8 and that seems to be much better, although you look like weirdo doing it. That may or may not be useful info depending on whether the calib process is the same for stancebeam!
