Title: Box Hygiene
Post by: FattusCattus on December 27, 2020, 11:29:10 PM
I have massive plums, and they sweat a lot during longer innings, which can affect my box.

Initially, Mrs Fattu s would spray my box with Dettol after each innings, but the latent chemical properties of this, cause my Kumquats to itch quite a lot.

My father suggested jet-washing my box - but I'm more in favour of disinfectant wipes (which helps the smell)

Any suggestions?

Dettol antibacterial wipes might be your friend. Should remove the smell but they're also meant for direct use on skin so shouldn't cause any err... irritation.

Used this for my batting helmet, so could well work with your Box/Betty Swollocks issue.

I’ve often heard old tales of using Cotten buds and their own saliva.

Obviously, takes time and effort but according to the old timers they swear by a good spit shine

If your plums are getting rather ripe then maybe pop the box in the fridge before use, then it should keep your fruity bits nice and cool, with the added benefit of some shrinkage, so easier to fit them inside into the box. Also the cold temperature should help kill off any smell.  :)

Get your plumbs emptied on a more regular basis. Maybe the night before a game hahaha

Begin the world’s largest box collection? One for every game you play from now on.

put vodka/gin in it at the end of a game - cleans and you a handy cup for your drink!

The longer you leave it without cleaning the less times you're stumped. Science
