Title: Help Buying Gloves and Pads

Hi
 
CBF new member here and first time poster.

It’s that time of year when I realise I really do need some new softs.
I’ve seen an unbranded pad and glove bundle by Thecricketshed. I feel that it’s not worth it to order from Onlinestockists (in India) - deliver, customer contact and guarantee.
I’m 6ft 4 so need Large pads.
Does anyone have any advice on what’s the best softs to get as a pair - don’t mind them being unbranded etc.

Best advice I can give you is to go to your local cricket shop and try some on.

Seen some good looking softs for around £80-90 - so somewhere around that price.
I can always get some plain white gloves as they got with any pads but is always nice to get gloves and pads together - might be an easier delivery/better deal

Is that £80/90 for both pads and gloves? Wouldn't get the absolute top end for that but there's definitely some nice bundles out there. Have a look at the H4L Clearance section, some deals on there.

There's plenty out there offering bundles, but this season's will be far above your budget. Mine are £140 to give you an idea. So you'll be looking at last year's softs at that price, or cheap tat which isn't as good imo.

I think forum sponsor Red Ink has some discounted kit on Ebay. Think they're just std mens tho

I have found their gloves to be sightly larger than the GNs and the SS gloves I have also been using.  Very good quality.

In my experience Puma gear tends to come slightly bigger. Would be interested to hear others thoughts. Puma kit is decent quality kit and can get a good price on eBay and sellers there offer returns as well. You could get Puma gloves and pads for your budget. As Six Sixes said however nothing beats trying them on. Less inclined to buy a new set of pads frequently  (rolling budget for bats and gloves however lol).

Otherwise GM do OSM and again v good quality and they have a very clear sizing chart so you know what you’re getting.

Last seasons will do me! Don’t think there’s been any groundbreaking advances in technology over the past year haha. I was just wondering if any places sold glove and pads together - I imagine most small brands it’s the same quality - ok for me - probably all made by same manufacturer in India (Robinsons etc.). Had a pair of duck and run pads and gloves a while ago and were ok. These opinions are really helpful - always looking for advice/deals.

You'll want to stay away from buying from India direct - the kit tends to be sized for the local market and therefore noticably smaller than the stuff intended for the UK.

Second the above recommendation for Puma, I'm also pretty tall and have always got on well with their standard size pads.

Shopping around is the key for softs generally, prices for the latest ranges are very high these days! Chase stuff stands out as the best value I've looked at lately, their midrange pads are very good for the money.
