Title: Post cricket ventures
Post by: Thechin21 on April 04, 2021, 06:02:20 PM
Didn't know where best to put this but I've just been to a new Artisan gelato and coffee shop that former Glamorgan and Sussex cricket Tony Cottey has opened up in Shoreham By Sea here in Sussex. Was really good too!

So was wondering whether anyone else knew of any former cricketers post retirement that have gone down a different future venture instead of the coaching, commentating, teacher route a lot of them go towards.

I know Ansari of Surrey retired to do what he went towards and Aldred went into his batmaking but thought it was quite a niche thing to open up. Hopefully it goes really well for him as he was always a decent bloke when I was young watching at Sussex as he always took the time to speak to youngsters and spectators when not on the field of play.

Chris Tremlett has his fingers in a few pies, he runs a coffee business and does house renovations I think.
He should also be a baddie in a Bond movie because he is massive now.

Tony Cottey's autobiography was amusingly titled "There's Only Two Tony Cotteys".

Alex Loudon works in corporate finance after retiring early. He is probably more well known though for being a love interest of Pippa Middleton if that classes as a career...

Whilst not a career, it would certainly open a few doors!

I think the doors were already well and truly open.

Went there a few years ago before a test, got chatting all things Surrey for a bit. Top man and still irks me that he was never capped.

Coffee also really good
