All,
I am thinking about trying out the Bas bow 20 20 moulded batting pads, ones similar to https://onlinestockist.com/bas-bow-20-20-moulded-cricket-batting-pads-men-s.html
My only concern is since these are ambi, do they have sufficient protection on the sides of the pad compared to traditional batting pads, particularly around knee area. Any one had issues specifically with respect to protection (or lack of) on the sides?

Are these very lightweight (like the morrant ultralites)?
Would like to try some like those but morrants are either hens teeth or really expensive so alternatives would be good.

Ya really lightweight. From some of the earlier reviews, I can see that there are folks who either like it very much as a result or others who dislike since they seem to not be flexible and bulky compared to regular pads.
For me, the pics look there isn't enough side on protection due to maybe the ambi type, so not sure. Also, I am not near a store to be able to try them on, so I ll wait.

I have had the same morrants ultralites for the past 5 or 6 seasons and they are brilliant. They are far lighter and less bulky than traditional pads and are certainly no less flexible. The lack of side wings is no issues as I have never been hit there (why would you be hit on the side of the leg?). The only issue with the morrants is that everything sticks to them, grass cuttings, fluff etc, though this is a minor drawback.
I would certainly give moulded 2 strap pads a go, especially if you are a little older and slower and would benefit from a lighter weigh and the same quality of protection.

I think morrants are used by internationals, so protection should be fine for them. The bas pads are cheaper alternative to the morrants, and look less wrapped around than the morrants. Question is are they worth as well.

I bought moulded SGs about 4 years ago. Super happy with those. They are light, have only two straps (I hate the annoying thin strap on regular pads) and the velcro was quite broad and is still holding up fine after 4 years of good use.

Have you got the 'standard' or 'large' size morrants?. I am 5'10 and unclear as to which is the appropriate size to choose.

I think I had the sg versions of these and they were light- but they didn’t wrap round the leg that well from memory. I got some power bow inferno from the gray nicolls eBay store for £50 and they are light.
I have never tried the morrants ones but would be curious!

Is super light heavier or lighter than ultra light? 🤣

They look to be that oldschool style inside padding, I wonder if that style is generally lighter or heavier than the modern pads with the gel protection and extra space for your knee to sit in.

I tried the moulded ones from sg and ss above and both were quite bulky, couldn't get on with them, plus they didn't wrap around that well, were quite flat . However the bas bow 2020 ones seem little different, at least they look less bulky and look like they might wrap around better since the inner looks thinner. Need to try out to be sure.

I have those in blue colours, looks bit bulky but it fits well. Very comfortable while running between wickets. Inner pads are adjustable in height so you can set it where knees and below has protection. As for ball impact feeling, it is not as good as traditonal cane/tubes pads. I do feel mild puch during fast bowling in my leg which I never feel in traitional pads. It is perfect for middle order batting once more spin comes to attack. If you want I can weight them and post pics. Cheers.

I checked the bas 20 20 moulded pads in person. They are definitely far better i.e. less bulky and better wrap around than the SS millennium and SG maxilite moulded ones, just as I was expecting them from the pics. Amla has used these same in internationals unlike the usual Morrants that most batsmen using moulded pads go for, so I woudn't have any concerns on protection.
