Seems Castore are going to sponsor the England Cricket team

their stuff is overpriced tat - they do newcastle's kit and it is dreadful - they messed up the sponsor so every shirt looks like it has a massive 4 on the front of it

i've seen a hoodie - primark quality - for about £65 - dreadful
-
Never actually got hold of any but the kit they did for the Windies looked really nice.
-
I was gonna say the Windies stuff is quite nice.
Do think it's pretty good to have a British manufacturer with an operating setup here (I believe)
-
I can assure you the will be manufacturing in the Far East.
They’ve just opened a state of the art office in the Manchester but there’s nothing English about the clothing unfortunately
-
I'd never heard of them.
-
I had not heard of them until this year. I prefer they stick with the usual brands so you know the quality and sizing plus does make a difference with the younger market to have a well known brand. I really liked the NB kits and merch.
-
They sponsor Andy Murray since he left Under Armour and their casual clothes seem to be of better quality than the replica stuff. Somebody pointed out the Newcastle kit issues, they've had similar problems at Wolves. They're positioning at the premium fitness sector so ECB makes sense (see previous sponsors like Waitrose, Natwest, Vodafone, err.. Tetleys?) and I see it that they are boosting brand awarenes to sell more of their gym clothing. I can't see them making a big splash in the equipment or footwear space.
-
Apparently Umbro and Slazenger were the other rival bidders so NB must've lost interest/already achieved what they set out to achieve - the deal is £25m over 10 years so they're here for the foreseeable.
-
Wish it was gymshark instead! :D
-
No money in sponsoring England for NB if they have to fork out for testing their softs etc each year
-
The next question is does this mean that Joe Root will be getting a new sponsor? There are a number of Ollie Pope fans in my club who stocked up on GM kit for Christmas being grumpy this summer. Will the same happen to the Root fans?!

How about England Neon kit? Your training tops look very nice!
Not sure I could ever see Slazenger sponsoring England or similar - my boys would go rage as perceived as a terrible brand these days since you know who took over them.
-
Apparently they are already signed up as Jos Butler's training apparel and lifestyle partner although I must confess that that big announcement had bypassed me
https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/england-cricket-kit-castore-ecb-new-balance/ (https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/england-cricket-kit-castore-ecb-new-balance/)
Will be interesting what the market holds for cricket-only brands outside of the Indian market if companies with deep pockets like Adidas and New Balance are pulling back

I would be surprised if the Root/NB deal wasn't signed for the same duration as the England/NB contract so there may be an England skipper searching for a new sponsor. Back to GM?

Ha thanks, the 2.5m a year price tag might just be an issue though :D

Small change for Belly...
-
looks like NB have lost out on the cricket SA contract to Castore as well now

Heard on the grapevine they didn't even attempt to renew the England contract, so I'd guess it to be the same again for SA.
NB have probably largely achieved what they set out to do with cricket, they've increased their brand awareness so now have very little need to continue spending millions sponsoring kit. So long as they've got Root they've got enough to entice all the youngsters into wanting their kit (and presumably they're still the All Stars/Dynamos supplier which is far more valuable than the shirt contract imo).
-
agree, as long as they hold on to root and smith they are doing fine. the england kits they came out with have been the best for years, especially the world cup retro kit.
dont see many adults using NB bats in club cricket, plenty of kids though
-
Haven't NB got the 100 kit to focus on!!
-
Small change for Belly...
How much per time that England dropped him?
-
Haven't NB got the 100 kit to focus on!!
Yeah exactly, can't imagine that'll be going to anyone else anytime soon! 💰💰💰
-
that training gear is shocking, especially the trousers and shorts.
https://castore.com/collections/england-cricket
-
I actually don't mind them. Maybe says more about my taste than anything! 😆
-
I couldn’t wear that stuff- it’s a bit out there for my taste. Looks very fitted also!
I also don’t like “Cinch” as a shirt sponsor. To me ‘Cinch’ means easy- and we are pretty easy to beat atm- and we have it emblazoned across the front of the shirt!
-
Not a great effort that in first sight. Must have some decent capital behind them but it obviously want spent on the design team
-
It's very football.
-
But I don’t want to support Man City 🥺
-
I don't mind the designs, but the prices don't scream inclusivity do they.
£42 for the adult training t-shirt is expensive but justifiable in comparison to other sports, yet it's still £40 for the junior training t-shirt... noting junior sizes are VAT free...
-
Am I the only one that actually quite likes it :(
-
I like the tops, not a fan of the trousers though. Look a bit washed out.
-
I quite like it.
Friend who works for them gave me a sneak peak and the kits are nice across the formats…
-
test kit will be pretty standard based on what they have done for the other teams.
would love another retro odi kit
-
Personal view on the Castore stuff so far is that it's ok but too expensive for casual fans.
I see that NB now sponsor Gloucestershire. So they're not completely removing themselves from the kit space.
-
i like the t20 shirt, but sixty quids a lot of money.
-
These along with the Birmingham bears/Warwickshire shirts are ridiculously priced!
-
Hummm £60 for a plastic shirt... The t20 shirts have been launched.
https://castore.com/collections/england-cricket
-
Apart from the retro ODI kit, new balance were rubbish. This t20 kit looks phenomenal. When new balance made the knits a different colour to the whites, that was shocking.
-
£5 extra for the long sleeve. Typical.
-
Daylight robbery at those prices. They’re having a laugh

Grim
-
The test kit is not great. The football shirt is one thing, but why do England sponsors always muck the jumpers up so badly? Do a knit or a modern jumper, don't try and do both.

-
Also why bright white. Urgh.
-
Not a massive fan. I've looked at Castore stuff for gym etc and find it quite pricey
-
whats the jumper all about? trying to ignore the bright white as should have seen it coming based on windies, kent, SA etc
-
Yeah. I won’t be buying any of that rubbish. Easy decision. A cinch, one might say
-
the odi shirt is the only thing that could drag this back, though i have a feeling we are in for more disappointment
-
It really does look like a football shirt.
-
Errrrm, I actually quite like the jumper 😆 Modern with traditional twist and the central badge i like. Kind of reminds me of a classic, retro football top.

The jumper is ghastly on a whole new level.
The neck is too small, the cable knit is all wrong and you can't wear a white jumper like than just grim.
Definite downgrade from the previous incarnation.

So you're saying it's a maybe! 😂
Not sure you rate my taste then @Buzz ?
-
the test jumper they did for the windies was lovely, why did they have to ruin the england one
-
In my opinion the test kit doesn't need to be revolutionary. Looking at Castore's current crop of test shirts, they were nicely constructed, simple and classic. Not sure why they didn't go with that again
This one really screams football shirt unfortunately. Its better than what New Balance have come up with though. I would never buy one so price isn't factored in, but they are expensive.
-
final rant, why would they release a 'pro' shirt? £95?
-
Because in the same way whenever you're buying anything for a wedding, the price goes up. Want a cake? It's £20. Want a wedding cake, it's £250.
Seemingly putting the word 'Pro' in front of anyting these days in the cricket world means people can charge more and will get it, as some people get sucked in.

The 'Players' thing is interesting too. What does it mean? Aren't we all players?
-
I've just looked. Truly awful.
-

The term Player is generally meant for a really good player, round my way at least. As in...'Is he any good?'....'Yeah, he's a serious player'.
I don't mind a 'Pro series' etc, it's more every other bat being termed a pro bat, because an overseas opening bowler who bats 9 in an ECB Prem.somewhere once used it.
-
A kit that perfectly represents a team that has won 1 of its last 17 tests. Looks like a League Two football kit

I felt encouraged by Kippax introducing a '4 star'.

I don’t normally read this tripe but any bad news on Harrison is good news!

Now hes gone too,
even worse is the new ODI shirt, someone in the design team needs shooting for that

Bit too jazzy for me, but I don’t hate it. The adidas ones from a few years ago were classy and simple. The new balance World Cup one was a fantastic one off, but I think this new one is a nice improvement from last years.
-
looks like they have tried a bit too hard to stand out, nothing wrong with a simple shirt done properly
-
Maybe the designers aren’t aiming to appeal to middle aged men?
-
Wonder if Harrison will hand over his part of the £2.1m bonus whilst laying off 20% of the ECB staff
Slug of a human being...
-
That shirt is not really my cup of tea. But I ain't young anymore
-
Overpriced plastic!I just can’t get past the ‘Cinch’ in massive writing. As Roy Keane would say: “Not for me”
-
Dont like it...it just doesnt say England to me when I look at the tshirt. This could well be a franchise tshirt (looks like a replica of the Gujrat Titans tshirt).
-
The best quote I have seen on the shirt is they look like the seats on a train...
-
On the new shirts, I think few of us on here are in the targeted demographic! As a guide my 14 and 15 year olds like the kit
-

Sounds expensive...
Also it says something about the demographic change on the forum as it used to be 16/17 year olds and now it is a bunch of middle aged dads... 😭😭🤣🤣🤣
