Title: What's in Marnus Labuschagne's kit bag?

What's in Marnus Labuschagne's kit bag? A set of calipers to measure the handle width appropriately!

Love the special guest that appears in the background! Also interesting how a lot of pro players carry around odd little items like how Marnus takes the digital callipers with him.

Very interesting. Hes got the reputation as someone very meticulous. Hopefully none of the bats will work except the outside edge for the next 5 weeks!  ;)

I tried to delete my account, but since that didn't work...

Marnus, like any good forumite (perhaps he is secretly) is looking for a willow-based solution to a loss of form.

Article here: https://www.cricket.com.au/news/3914437/marnus-labuschagne-batting-lab-moorabbin-shannon-young-technology-balance-point-index (https://www.cricket.com.au/news/3914437/marnus-labuschagne-batting-lab-moorabbin-shannon-young-technology-balance-point-index)

Update... I don't think it worked today.

Oooh, thanks a lot for that link - I love (and am totally sceptical about) a good cricket bat metric!

Down the ‘balance point index’ rabbit hole I go…

I think the comparison to golf clubs is very good. Cricket kit does lag a way behind the level of analysis they do, especially at the top level. Doubt it'll turn anyone into Kane Williamson but at the elite level that extra 1% could be the difference.

What I found interesting from the first kit bag video, is that he holds the bat fairly low down. Particularly his top hand. Which might suggest if he isn’t using the full leverage of the bat handle he then isnt getting over the ball hitting it downwards so much as liked.  ?

Oh my goodness, I hadn't watched the first video before - he's made his own sweatband/armguard! I've got new badger goals :)

Are you any kind of a cricket badger if you haven't stitched your own arm guard? I did them for me and my boys.

None of us wear them

😂😂

Marnus waffling on about cricket bats on the willow talk podcast.
Quite a fun listen (I actually really like the willow talk podcast anyway)
