Absolutely gutting. A true legend on and off the field. I for one will really miss his commentary and analysis on the game. Thoughts with his family and friends obviously

Truly shocking and taken way to young. Was a Legend of the game when the word sometimes is used to easily. Loved watching him in the 2005 ashes and pretty much from then onwards. Had is troubles like all unique superstars seem to but find it had to believe that he has passed away.

The best spinner I ever saw.

A very sad day.

Such sad news. Growing up I wasnt a fan, but only because he was so good against us and an abrasive character. But when i got a little older I couldn't help but like and respect him, he was a joy to watch and was a big fan of him as a pundit too. Such sad news.

I met him a few years ago after a round of golf at Rockliffe Hall. He was having dinner with Botham and Steve Gibson, but was more than happy for us to get a picture and have a minute of banter about cricket. RIP to one of the true greats!

Absolute shock.

So sorry to hear - remember watching him torment Eng batters for many years. Agree, best spinner of all time.

Couple that with Rod Marsh and has been a very sad time for Aus cricket recently

Very sad and no age to go, but what a life and what a character. Cricket could use a few more characters in the same mould.

What a crappy way to wake up for a big day's cricket - first Rod Marsh, now the King.  :(
Finally have some time tonight to process it, and enjoy some of his highlights with a tear in the eye.
just 52 - that's a sobering thought :o .  RIP Warney

Some great highlights at the bottom of this page.

Thanks for that mate, he made Von Strauss look so silly.

Warney’s flipper in his early days was just ridiculous.

Truly a great of the game in my lifetime and probably the greatest spin bowler in history. He was immensely popular with us English fans after he stopped playing and when he was playing against us you just wished he was on our side.

The shock will take a while to get over, it’s a heartbreaking loss and so very unexpected, perhaps it is that that is making it hard to comprehend
