Title: 2022 spikes

Does anyone have any spike suggestions please? Was previously wearing a pair of nike spikes and have tried the new Adidas mid pair however found them to be really really heavy. Seems like the options for spikes these days are very very slim. Considering the following options:

Post by: Neon Cricket on March 23, 2022, 03:09:57 PM: Whatever you do just stick with the actual footwear brands that invest money in creating footwear - aka Adidas/NB/Asics/Payntr.

The amount of small brands I'm seeing at the moment popping up selling spiked trainers is ridiculous. Whilst there's appetite for them, trainers spiked like this offer nothing in terms of the ankle support/protection that a proper cricket shoe does (especially as most of these spiked trainers are at best rubbish 35/40 quid pairs from Sports Direct and being resold for more than a top end cricket shoe would cost, it's comical). Not to mention the dodgy ground they're on legally...

In short, stick with the big brands. I can personally vouch for the NB CK10s having used them for the past few years and the new Payntr XPFs are a good bit of kit too.

Purely subjective choice to go off piste,but yous pay the money etc etc

For fielding, I use a pair of spiked up Adidas Solar Glides. The cricket shoe market doesn't seem big enough for companies to produce the specialist shoes that are available to runners. I don't bowl so the ankle support on a running trainer isn't an issue

I tend to agree with this, especially if you're looking for bowling spikes. I had adiPower Vectors for last season and they were great. NB can be on the heavier side, but the newer CK4040's are pretty good too. The NB's for me personally were better for overpronation in the front foot (if you're like me and don't want to cut holes in the front). Payntr's bowling spikes I'd avoid, I managed to rip 2 pairs in as many games...
