Very pleased to say that our Neon Sky has been ranked 2nd overall in this years' Cricketer Good Gear Guide - link to the review and full rankings below!

Always great to see positive feedback from neutrals, especially coming above all of the 'big boys' - I'm told it was one of Rikki Clarke's personal favourites too so that's always a good sign! :D

Congrats on the result mate! Looks like a Pretty good write up.
I really want to tell them off about shouting about edge size though 🤷♂️🤣

Yes, absolutely. I get big edges are marketable but they is still some variables to it eg boning and width/narrowing. Hopefully people see the light soon.
Don’t want to hijack the thread, congrats to Neon on the result!

Well done!

Firstly we'll done @Neon Cricket congratulations on that result.
I don't understand why there isn't a Value for money rating though? GM sending in nothing higher than a 909 for instance and other lower grade bats are more than likely to finish lower down the ranking.

Well done Neon.
Woodstock always seem to be knocking around the top. Can't complain though, as I need to move on an Airstream LE

Do they test these bats new or after really playing in for quite a bit to make sure they opened up. Asking since different bats open up after different amounts of playing in depending on the pressing and if they tested new, only the softer pressed ones would look to be performant.

Thanks all, appreciate the kind words. Yes the focus on edge sizes is a little questionable, especially as all of our bats have the edges rounded off whereas some other brands don't, but it is quite a selling point still for most of the general public so makes sense to be included being as the test is aimed at the general buyer.
Overall I'm still very pleased with the result though, especially considering I only took out the basic entry and didn't pay for any extra advertising...... ;) :D

I'm actually glad you spotted that - I completely agree! Up until 2020, there was always a value for money section. When I entered the 2021 test last year, I sent in a club grade bat purely for the reason that I wanted to prove that for under £200 you could still get a bat that was as good as the big money offerings, regardless of the looks etc. Unfortunately, for some reason in 2021 they took this part of the test out - to my delight the bat still came in joint 4th on the test overall, but had that category been included then it likely would've finished higher with all the other bats above it being over double the cost.
Naturally for 2022, with the category no longer being included I sent in one of the top grade bats to level the playing field with comparable brands. I accept they're certainly not the cheapest and not for everyone, but still a decent amount below what you'd pay for the equivalent grade from GN/GM/NB/M&H.

The bat we sent in was brand new, I gave the edges/toe probably 20 mins of knocking in (and rounded them off which probably lost me 2/3mm of edge size!) but other than that it was fresh. As for softer pressing... a bat is either pressed properly or isn't - can of worms aha.
