What a final. Great innings by Healey and Sciver. Australia look like deserving winners.

148 not out for Sciver. Just ran out of partners. What an innings. The scoops were :o

Yeah some great cricket played by both sides, but Australia are just too good at present. Great fight from England though after losing the first 3 games.
Watched Eccleston bowl in the semi and she looks like a seriously good bowler.

You have to ask, you win the toss on a road, the sun is out, world cup final...
No you don't bowl first.

Not convinced that the decision at the toss would have made much of a difference. England's fielding could have been better but this Austrlian side has set a new level in women's cricket that is far above anything that there has been before, particularly when it comes to batting. Australia are reaping the rewards of making a big jnvestment in the women's game

Oh sure, this Aussie team has won 43 of their last 45 odi matches. They are an amazing team, worthy champions and are just a sensational team.
But if you are going to win a one off game, you have to give yourself the best possible opportunity.

But surely if England had taken some fairly easy chances, then they'd have been able to apply more pressure and be looking at a different game?
Maybe not though and when any team posts 359 having been put into bat, it will never look good.

If there's anything England have learned in the last 3 months on tour, it's that the Australian women excel at chasing. In the previous few games they chased 272 against SA with 5 overs to spare and 277 against India, so setting a target and hoping AUS wouldn't get there was unlikely. And it seems there was some movement with the ball early on that Healy and Haynes negotiated with care, so I feel Knight's decision to field was vindicated. Regardless of the call, it was going to take something special to cause an upset - Sciver was exceptional, but couldn't do it on her own.
It was an incredible world cup, with a lot of nail biting close finishes. I think something like 9 matches were decided in the last over, and apart from Bangladesh and Pakistan, all the other teams were in the running for the finals.
The Australian depth is incredible, with 3 walkup starters missing with injuries, all replaced by young talent that thrived. 3 months ago Alana King hadn't played a game for Aus, and she just took 3 wickets in a world cup. An amazing effort from a team who just keep getting better.
