I was browsing through this board and noticed that there was no posts since August 2016 and thought I would provide you with my own prospective on Warsop.
I have been using Warsop bats, pads, gloves et cetera since I was a teenager (over 20 years) and I remember their old shop in Danbury. One of the bats I purchased from them (May 2000; they date stamped this bat) was custom made at a weight of 3lb (heavy bats had become a bit of a fascination at this time); I later had the weight reduced to approximately 2lb 9oz and the bat is till in my possession.
I returned to playing club cricket for Chingford last season after a number of seasons not playing due to family commitments and injury (ruptured my right patellar tendon in October 2017 playing football); my Warsop bats looked rather dated with the older transfers/stickers compared to those on their website; so during last season, I got my 2 Warsop bats I still had completely refurbished with their new transfers/stickers applied (one after the other, couldn't be left without a bat) and they came back looking like new, so I can fault Clere and Tony for their work on my bats especially with the age of them.
As my pads and gloves hadn't been used in a while and looked rather worse for wear, I purchased their Platinum Pro Batting Pads and Platinum Pro Flexi Batting Gloves.
As you can imagine, returning to play for your cricket club after many years out, your playing clothing may have changed in some way or form (luckily mine still fitted but it was not the same as other players at the club were using All Rounder as their supplier with Adidas being the choice of kit). I looked at purchasing new clothing from All Rounder but after seeing their prices along with their turnaround time and delivery charges, I was very reluctant to pay these prices along with waiting for however long it would have been as other players had complained that they never received items. So, what I did off my own back (and causing some backlash with the hierarchy at the club) was obtain my own club clothing through Warsop, which worked out cheaper with less wait time and no delivery costs (I am often in Chelmsford as my youngest daughter lives there with her mother, so I would collect it myself). What started off as short and long sleeved playing shirts and playing trousers with the club's badge/logo on them, it ended up with me asking Warsop to provide me with a baseball cap, baggy cap and sunhat as I did not have club headwear (this is what initially caused the backlash and this was due to the fact the players had ordered headwear the previous season and still not receiving it) and as I am only playing 3rd/4th XI cricket and never worn a helmet, I need a cap to wear if/when I batted (I don't often wear a cap/hat whilst fielding, but if I do, it would be a sun hat). My collection of Warsop club clothing grew throughout the end of last season with the additions of a hoodie, tracksuit bottoms, shorts, t-shirt, polo shirt, jacket, gilet, beanie and pom pom hat. My goal now is for Warsop (through my recently established company) to become Chingford Cricket Club's clothing supplier and hopefully I can expand this part of my business to other local clubs.
I have seriously gone off of topic with that last paragraph but as you can tell I am a bit of a Warsop w***e (according to my fellow club members), this is only because I am in it for the "little guy" as they say.
Anyway, if you have any questions or queries regarding Warsop, I am here to help.
Thank you for your time.

Good post and read!
Just the other day I was just wondering why Warsop had faded on this board. They were on my list of bats to try at one point.
They have a great legacy.
Do they still make their own handles? (Does anyone anymore?).
Cant say I'm a fan of their new livery though..
-
Bit mixed on Warsop. Had a couple of platinums and like others wish I’d never sold them. Fantastic bats and unbeatable style of stickers. For me they remain the best looking with Salix.
A team mate asked me to help him get a hand made bat a few years ago, went to Warsop as I thought they would be best in London.
First bat split in the handle maybe because it was in too tight, Warsop replaced it. Ok so far…replacement bat split in the exact same place in the handle so gave up and my recommendation went down the toilet.
However having had a few bats I put this down to very bad luck twice.

You know Michael Blake? Small world but probably everyone knows Michael Blake. He does have a Warsop, whether he knows how to use it is a different kettle of fish.

Seem to remember him scoring a lot of rus with it in its first year.

2014. I suspect he'll still be using the same Warsop. He's 'old school' like that.

I believe he is on his 2nd Warsop Venom; he scored 50 batting at 5 in our 3rd XI at the beginning of the season, but hasn't scored anything since (https://chingford.play-cricket.com/player_stats/batting/369686?rule_type_id=179). I returned to play for Chingford Cricket Club last season after not playing for them since 2012, I made the odd appearance in cricket week or whenever Michael Blake was short on a Sunday. This is unofficial, but I gave Dan Lawrence his adult cricket debut at the age of 8.

I went to Warsop's workshop in East Hanningfield (just to the east of Chelmsford) in June and picked up a one of their Scimitar bats that was labelled 3lb 2oz; it did not feel that heavy and it instantaneously made me want a new bat, so I spoke to Clere and we discussed specifications which included a low middle, long blade and the heaviest it could be. I collected the bat a few weeks later and was more than pleased with the end result. After hours of knocking in; I weighed it and it was 3lb 4oz. Now that it is fully knocked in, have started to use it (when I get a chance to bat) and the ball absolutely flies off of it. I used it in an inter club T20 and the sound of the ball off of the bat was incredible. In a recent Saturday league fixture, I absolutely middled one through cover that just kept on going after it left the bat; I doubt I'd probably get the chance to use it with the end of the season fast approaching and with us skittling out teams for next to nothing and knocking it down in very few overs and wickets lost; meaning I might open the batting with myself Saturday.

Looks like you must have lent it to Bernard Storm?

He uses a Gray Nicolls which is an absolute gun; plus he was due a score as hadn't scored a run since his 160*. He has such a good eye.

Don't know him, but here's a picture of Dan's current bat. Looks like a short blade?

One of our 1st XI players managed to acquire one of Dan Lawrence's and one of Ben Stokes' GM bats; they both picked up lovely. Our ex 1st XI captain (now Chairman of Cricket) played in our 2nd XI on Saturday and used the Ben Stokes' one and said he hit one of the best shot ever with it. I assume you are at Canterbury watching the Lions?

540mm blade at a guess?

Alfie?
No, I was at the Oval when Essex were there. Don't think he was happy with the lbw decision he got.

Remind me? What is standard/traditional?
That bat arguably wouldn't make the LE cut on looks as an off-the-shelfer?
-
Sorry, not Alfie. He wouldn't have played in 2s.
Chris?

Yes, Alfie Taylor; he manages to acquire a lot of stuff off of Dan from Essex and England including Dom Sibley's shirt which he wore for a bad shirt night at the club's end of season night.

Chris?
Alfie would have been in the 1st XI in 2014; are you thinking of Chris Baldock? Chris moved to Valencia at the end of last season but came back and played in one of the games in cricket week where he took a screamer at gully 1st ball of the innings and we won on the last ball with one wicket remaining.
-
Alfie was still in 1s last time I looked. Good player!
I figured he would get stuff off Dan as I know they used to spend a lot of time together practicising.
Yes, Chris Baldock was my second guess when I re-read and realised it said second team.

555mm the standard, GM short blades in recent years have largely (all?) been 15mm shorter. Think the Kaha was the last one that was shorter than that but I could well be wrong.

It was Jamie Hill who used Ben Stokes' bat; I had recently refurbished his Kookaburra that he got when Dan was supported by them and Jamie gave it to someone and that person did not have it when he asked for it.

I've never met you. James would probably be your best bet if it was really bugging you.
Does he still need coaches? I have a Level 2 qualification.

You would know if you met me. I will message Jamie Hill as I have been looking at results on Chingford Cricket Club's Play Cricket to see if anything stands out and I have 2 possibilities. I can ask him Jamie if we need anyone.

Oh, don't! I'm sure I'll introduce myself at some point if you play nicely.
-
Don't think it was a serious offer. But he was looking last I heard. Mind you, was about five years ago!

You never replied to my posts about Rossington and Critchley's shoes?
