Title: Carbon Core
Post by: playresumes on July 11, 2022, 04:09:24 PM
Puma Ballistic 6000

I was given this to refurb for a player at our club.  I have read about the carbon core but never came across one before.  Is it worth the effort?  It has a very low middle so I presume will be good for our low pitches.

Not worth it, I'll give him a tenner for it  ;)

Only kidding - great bats, 100% worth salvaging. Great sticker nostalgia also if you can save them during the refurb!

Excellent, great news.  Never had much success at saving the stickers but 🤞 I manage.
Thanks for the info.

Same handle as the old Newbery C6+, both Keeley made. Nice bats. Not many of them about these days, so worth repairing.

A visible example of what used to be known as 'opening up' - before opening up came to mean well knocked-in?

Tom would probably be able to tell us that these bats were also Keeley pressed?

Unfortunately it was clear that the stickers were not going to be able to be saved so just did a light clean up, glueing and sanding to keep the bat in its original state as best as possible.

Great work, the bat looks really good after the refurb. Did you give it a wax or oil before putting the scuff on?

Yes, I used some wax that I made up and left it a couple of weeks.
