Also £175 for a pair of pro pads... I remember when they were £40! Now I appreciate prices in retailers will be a bit less. But who is going to buy pads for that sort of money?

This just has me reminiscing about the good old days of the early 2000s. Remember when Kookaburra made nice bats! Once paid £100 for a grainy stunning long blade Big Kahuna, still one of the best bats I've ever owned.

Also what is it with Kookaburra and flat fronted pads? They are the only major brand that have there top end pads that way.

The range shouldn't be on there web yet  :D

If you look at the pads, they've made quite a change to the back and sides. Instep now all the way down , and the side walls are incredibly bulky and heavy

Is that what they're telling retailers?

They announced the new range via email yesterday. Good way to get the direct pre-orders in.

Retail prices will no doubt be a little less but £400 for a G2 and £275 for top of the range softs or £200 for mid range softs. Maybe time to start supporting the smaller brands again??

No doubt though like everything if you like your brand names the prices are going to be high compared to a few years back but I guess that’s just the times we live in.

On to this new look stuff decent colour ways but looks like the same kit in new colour ways

standard kooks, new sticker colours but will no doubt be pretty similar to the range the discontinued. they need a new retro range, would love to see the diablo come back.

Second that. Take my money if the Diablo came back.

They would make so much money if they did the carbon backed bats again as a limited run.

I think the Aus Beast stickers are great this year... Is the UK range the same, @Six Sixes Cricket ?

My real pet peeve about this range is the name! So lazy...
GM Aura bat range... 2015 ish?
Hunts County Aura range... 2016 ish?

A thank you to @Six Sixes Cricket - lots of others have left but your continued contribution and engagement is really appreciated. Similarly, Neon Cricket, @Ayrtek Cricket and Big Ginge.

Serious Cricket put out their reviews of the new Kookaburra kit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiKsa0py0tQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiKsa0py0tQ)

Amazed they managed to identify any differences in the bat profiles, to be honest.  :D :D :D

Old school kahuna. Saw it at my local cricket shop. Comes in a few grades and had a predominantly black and green sticker covering the whole back of the blade. One I saw had a very poorly applied sticker, might have been the Kashmir willow model. I'll see if I can find a Facebook post I saw with pics.

You might need to be a member of the group to see this:

When it eventually hits the UK/US, it might be a tempting proposition if reasonably priced. It's a Kookaburra Holy Grail for me, I think - Ponting's 2005 Kahuna.

The new pics look much better than the black back version I saw. There's a $250 version in the same style as the top end ones

And gloves look great too

Totally agree about the back sticker.

And also echo, @billyb - this could be a nostalgia purchase if not too expensive.

$250 versions seem to be junior sizes. When the option is changed to Short handle and Long Blade, the price changes to $400

Looks like the $250 version is actually $400 once you select SH as size, but you can gets Small Adult onefor $250.

I think the two contenders were the GN Powerbow and the Kahuna, and they dropped the Powerbow this year I think.

GM Maestro - got my first one in the 1980s ...

Not sure if they have been available as a new model every year since then, but certainly have remained around in Australia for most of that time.

I got to have a look at the retro kahunas in the flesh yesterday. For the price, all the lowest grade English willow ones looked very nice. Spec wise, they were poor, including a fair bit of narrowing. Performance seemed mediocre when hit with a mallet, however as purely a display piece, they looked very good.
