Hi all,

Which company/batmaker do you think has the best pressing in terms of consistency, ping etc

Garrard seems very well thought of and I've yet to see one that wasn't extremely well pressed.

I'd second that, I've had a few off of him and have been consistently impressed with the quality of his pressing.

My only minor gripe with Garrard was that every bat I have had has weighed in heavier than advertised.

I would echo this.  I have had two Garrard bats and both have been pressed excellently.

Prob agree with that with their branding it’s worth the cash

I recently bought a Keeley from the 'factory'. With being a cbf'er I set about checking the stage where I thought it was in being ready to play.

I saw light seam marks so decided to knock in a little more. I've been told to oil little first as that helps to loosen the fibres prior to knocking in. The oil didn't look to take as well as normal which I thought was odd but knocked it in anyway. Started as usual in the middle and worked my way outwards. In doing so I like to 'push' the non-compressed area around the edges and toe. Not the same amount of compression I'd normally see but it was definitely there. After little more than an hour I was happy it was done.

You can never put the same pre-knocked in bat alongside the same knocked in bat but I'd say the rebound was measurably better. To my mind, I've elongated the sweet spot too. Whether I've made it more match ready, shortened the lifespan or both I couldn't tell you. My feeling is now I'm happier using it in the nets first and see if it pushes up the ranking.

Not a scientific test, as at the time I didn't even know that the reason why the oil didn't take is that to make them match ready they are waxed and buffed at the factory. But because I seem to notice a difference, I've just bought a LV mallet.

Exceptional customer service too! Had a CF when I was first at uni so ~2010. Nice bat and great value, but the toe went after a few weeks (looking back it was probably my fault for being an average cricketer as opposed to the bat!) but CF replaced it free of charge without any quibble at all.

From all the bat makers I have tried has to be Keeley for me - Very consistent press and one that I like - Really doesnt take much to get ready in terms of knocking.

I know he isnt everyone's favorite but Aldred too - very consistent good pressing.

Bats from Solitaire were always pressed incredibly well. Not always the best/most consistent shapes/finishing but they go bloody well.

I am noticing some very good pressing on some of the Indian New Balance bats I have received, unsure about lifespan. Anyone using one?

I’ve got two in use and one waiting to go at nets this winter.
You are quite right about pressing & performance, I love them (regardless of grade)

I’d say 2 years old and scored quite a few runs here and there - no issues so far
