Title: Bat tape
Post by: playresumes on April 02, 2023, 07:26:37 AM
Just wanted some advice on the best batting tape to buy.  I have 3 rolls and currently only 1 seems to stick well.  Unfortunately I can’t remember where I got that one from.  Would be interested in a thoughts on a premium and a budget option.
Basically where do people get their tape from? Thanks in advance.

Binding works better than tape... gives better protection and more strong...

Never really had an issue with any tapes not sticking. Perhaps a silly question, but you're not trying to apply to a recently oiled bat?

I've had this before and it was fine -

On the contrary, I think you're asking for problems with binding. Its a last ditch effort for a blown out toe perhaps, but it ends up cutting into the willow, which is something you probably want to avoid.

Agree. I hate binding. I honestly don't think it helps.

Only ever seen binding used by a proper batmaker on a toe that was smashed to bits, does seem like the last ditch option to try and squeeze a bit of life out of an otherwise written off bat.

GM/GN tape has always worked fine for me, reasonably priced and good quality if you're just needing it for personal use.

Thank you.  That looks perfect.

It was lightly oiled about 2 weeks ago and then sanded again.  One roll stuck  so that’s why I was going for it being the tape rather than the oil 🤷‍♂️, thanks.

Thanks for that.  I will have a look.
