Bit of a strange one, I've been in bad form now for probably 2 years. Does anyone have any suggestions on things to try?
I feel a million bucks in every net session, come out after nailing 95% of the balls and feeling like I'm in the form of my life. Get to game day in league cricket and every week I get out cheaply, I previously averaged about 40 in league cricket with a couple hundreds every year. Now I average about 15 a season and can't get the ball off the square unless its a rank ball. I'm still scoring runs in mid week T20 league, Sunday cricket and pretty much any other format of cricket I play. Could it be the longest form of the batting yips? I had my best bowling season in quite some time last year and average about 16 with the ball way better than my seasons historically so no issues there.
Any suggestions welcome,

I feel your pain with this. I am struggling to score any runs for ages, but I am not playing frequently enough.
You have to have a positive mindset and grind I out a bit, try and face 20 to 30 balls working singles and twos and hope it clicks.
I am thinking about getting a 1-2-1 session to see if I have a technical issue.
Failing that I need a new bat or pads or something. Maybe a different thigh pad.

If you haven't had a recent eye test that's worth doing as well. Sometimes the light at certain times of day messes with your vision worse than others, ie evening nets may not trouble you like afternoon game days.

Read a great article by Atherton years ago I’ve tried to follow myself after a lengthy slump.
2 choices
Play for yourself get yourself in as long as possible to give your self a chance and a score to help the team.
Second the opposite forget your own form and play the match situation, if you need quick runs take it on whether it’s your game or not, put the teams needs first and hope your teammates know enough to see what you are trying to do.
Two complete opposite approaches it made me stop and think and choose one or the other.

Could you do a brief stint in the stiffs?

I would suggest only to play in league matches, till you get back your form.

This has to definitely be the reason :P
On a more serious note, is there a pattern to the dismissals in terms of the number of balls faced, method of dismissal etc?

If you're scoring runs and feeling good in all other games and trainings then I'd guess either you're no longer good enough for that level (sounds unlikely, but no idea of your age, ability to train vs before etc) or psychological.
If it's the latter then Gio Colussi is a great, alibet expensive option. There likely a good deal of his stuff free online, and on his Fb site, if you can spare the time to hunt through for it.

In your nets, are you specifically working on hitting a target or just play what’s in front of you?
I understand that that’s relied upon a bowler hitting a mark time after time, difficult at our level of course.
If so facing a bowling machine could help figure some stuff out. Drilling playing to a couple of cones placed at cover, hitting the ball to point with a cut or a dab to 3rd man.
We can ‘zombie’ our way through the season if we don’t specifically set a goal and try to achieve it.

For me when I feel like this I feel it’s massively important to work your nuts off to get to 10. Might take 20/30 or however many balls but getting 10 is a start to build from

In my time playing I can say I have always batted for the team so when I open or bat top order bat take my time etc .. but like Saturday when in 9 ball to go just try to hit bombs from ball one .. and yep out Frist ball ... O well that's cricket after all is a team sport
