Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a pair of ‘batting shoes’ they swear by??
Basically my criteria is a very lightweight trainer/mesh, preferably pimpled, cool/breathable in hot temperature shoe.
Im not against rubber spiking a pair of trad spikes either if there is a ‘no brainer’ you all swear by.
I’m only a spinner so pimples are fine for me and I find them much better for sprinting in the field all day and wearing in nets/artificial/pavilion etc.
Am disappointed with a pair of Payntr pimples I bought this year. Far too hot to wear for a start. Ideal for wet April but that would be it really.
Gray Nics obviously have a range of batting shoes which tick all my boxes on paper. But I dont see anyone wearing anything GN on the forum or on the field?
Adidas & New Balance seems to be the popularity but I saw a website highly recommending to always order one size up, so it puts me off a little. (I have completely normal lean sporty type feet)
Plus Im not sure how lightweight or breathable they are as pictures suggest alot of rubber or plastic wrapping around the majority of the shoe. My nearest proper cricket outlet is 45 mins away.
I would love hear your pimple ideas!
Huge Thanks

I'm very excited to finally have something useful to contribute to the forum! I now live in Massachusetts, and cricket shoes are one thing that I find to be overpriced in the US - usually well over $100 for a good pair.
I did some digging and found 'baseball turf shoes/cleats', which are essentially pimple type shoes designed for baseball. I found one particular family of shoes I really like, called the Adidas Afterburner Turf. The 9 was about $90 and is white and gold, but I got last seasons silver and white version (8) for $50, which is a great deal. Pictures below of the shoes and soles.
Now I'm still experimenting with them, but so far I'm a huge fan - they look and feel great! Super, super light, a really grippy sole, and a pretty good price. They do have the strangest lacing system I've ever seen though. I know this is a super left field option but hey, that's what this forum is all about sometimes.

I love repurposing kit from other sports. I have a pair of hockey shoes I wear for indoor cricket/nets.
