On holiday... aching after a long day shopping
Thought I'd pop in here and just get some discussion.. imagine you have to go FKW, what brand model do you go with?

Where are you in holiday and where did you go shopping- did you go fkw at the Nike in NYC?
I’ve just gone FKW Gray Nicolls, but do like kookaburra. I loved the stuff in the 90’s growing up that the likes of Alec Stewart wore.
I remember the bubble pads and just thought they weee awesome, but then realised they were something for the bowler to aim for!

Turkey... just been walking around the grand bazaar, nothing cricket related for miles...
Never gone FKW, this thread might tip me.

I'll not comment, as heavily biased! 😆 Only ever been a FKW in the past few years.
-
Based on my current kit, it'd either be Scott (unbiased 😂) or Red Ink. Both great guys who do things the right way, make quality kit and bats, and I really like the branding of both.

:D :D :D

Not one yet, but if i would at the moment it would be Gray Nics probably for me. Green hypernova to be exact.
Currently kits all over the place. Kippax Bat; CA JR20 Gloves, SM Pads, GM helmet, Adidas Spikes, Slazenger box!

100% Willow & Wand kit. Superb quality at great prices for club players. Please note I’m being silly
Before I started WW iv always been FKW and personally if I ever stop WW I’ll go back to Gunn & Moore just think it’s a notch above all others

Depends
If I choose softs to match my preferred bat GM
If I go with me preferred softs Kookaburra
-
In all seriousness if Scott Cricket was no more, I'd go for one of the smaller batmakers I know. The big boys don't need the support and you get more for your money imo. While doing some good and supporting someone who's doing it for the love of it generally. But I am biased! 😆
If pushed on one of the more established brands, it would be H4L or if it would have to be bigger still, then probably GN.

If lid included - Ayrtek. High quality softs, bats sourced from an excellent maker and the bags look great. Don't think I'll use something other than an Ayrtek lid for head protection, unless it's the Masuri custom fitted one.
Excluding lid - very difficult choice. For a big brand, Gray Nics just look so classy, it's hard not to want to use them. I'd probably use an Aussie range bat. I'm also fairly short, and their pads do tend to size up a bit shorter than GM, which I've found to be a touch uncomfortable to wear at times. I think Kook have often had the best feeling softs, just the bats aren't quite to my liking. SS probably the other contender with their awesome bats and softs too.
If I was paying for all my kit, I'd be going for a small brand, probably H4L or RPC. Softs have been fantastic for both, and bats are awesome. Keeley and Scott don't do small mens pads, otherwise they'd be in the lineup. Of course, an idiot like me has FKW for like 6 or 7 different brands, so it's difficult for me to pick 1. 😂

Who makes Ayrteks bats? Assumed they were sourced from India

GN, yet to find pads that can compete with legends and their glove selection is always decent.
Would like to do it with one of the smaller makers but only use sausage gloves and only play in pyjamas so not really an option.

I think it really depends on what level we’ve got to be a FKW. Have I got to wear the spikes and helmets if available too?
I’ve been a few over the years, was lucky enough to have a Kook deal when I was younger and I’d love to have their player issue pads and gloves again. I tried Gray Nics for a while but just couldn’t get on with their keeping gear. I think I’d still class them as a boutique brand so I don’t mind supporting the Keeley’s at the moment, although I don’t find the softs lasting a huge amount of time.
I’d love a return to Kook as long as I could wangle their player issue pads and gloves, they’ve chucked too much colour on their gear these days… I’d sneak in my classic keeper gloves, although I have kept a pair of now vintage Kook silvers in the cupboard so they could get wheeled out. But there’s no way I’m giving up my ASICS or New Balance for their spikes and Shrey for their lids. Call me a snob :D

Still UK made i believe, but not for me to say by who

Always have been 100% UK made

My younger son is FKW GN.
My daughter is fkw kookaburra
My elder son is fkw ayrtek. Although he does need a thigh pad Tom. 😂😂😂
I have gn softs and whatever bat feels good in the hands on the day.
Just a matter of getting hold of the best kit I can for each of us. At a price I can afford.
-
I'm happy to be a H4L FKW. Good kit.
-
I'm just a w*nker in odd kit...

The fact you recognise yourself as a non fkwanker implies you’re probably not a (No Swearing Please)

H4l just realised I already do this although the gloves and pads have a different colour scheme.
Ayrtek would be very tempting as Tom does great stuff.
Gray nics is our whites supplier so I could go ultimate fkw with them
