Title: Kippax Colossus vs Keeley Superior vs Others
Post by: The4thStump on August 27, 2023, 05:27:09 PM
Wanted a bit of help with the following dilemma. Im waiting on end of season bargains to grab a stick with a full profile (no concaving) around 2.8.
Ive shortlisted the Kippax Collusus and Keeley Superior as I patiently wait for them to drop below the £200 mark.

Any suggestions from the forum on what to go for either out of the 2, or if you want to throw anything else into the mix. Those 2 brands in particular im very impressed with the pressing, pick up and balance.

Handles a consideration, Keeley usually very thin, Kippax more of a healthy medium thickness. Found Kippax shoulders to be thicker too.

Unfortunately I think you might be waiting a while for them to drop below £200!

Thanks Jimbo.
The dilemma I have is ive batted with a couple of Kippaxes in the nets and they are phenomenal. But everyone I know with a kippax has a delaminated bat?! So not sure if this is a common trend or just unlucky.

Regarding the under £200 i should have said around the £200 for a grade 3. Hoping keeley have another £100 off bats and Keeley have another instagram special for £220. But like I said, if there are any alternatives with the quality of either Kippax or Keeley I’d be open to considering them.

If you want a G3 around £200, have a look at Scott and Red Ink on the forum. Both smaller makers who provide excellent customer service, press well and make lovely bats.

Pick a bat that feels right in your hands.

There are a lot of quality options out there, which I'd say are equally as good as the ones stated. Not my place to comment on which makers, but take a look at their websites or socials to get a feel for them. Narrow it down and then ask a few questions to see what's possible.

Companies change and it's surprising how few people don't realise brands do change aspects of their production etc over  time. So if you want specifics, you may have to do some research. Or if it's already one of these two, just go with the one you like the shape of more than the other.

This is a very good point, typical bats from each of these will feel very different so which you prefer is likely a very personal thing. Teammate of mine picked a Kippax up last year and I was very impressed with it.
