Hello All,
Unless im mistaken theres hardly ever been much chat here on Chase cricket.
Would anyone like to share their experiences and reviews?
My club mate has picked up a Chase Vortex (T20 profile, shorter blade longer handle) who swears itll take his average from single to double figures next year.

we had the Vortex. It was incredible. Astonishing Grade 3 (R4) bat. My sons first adult bat. We had a light one and its still in the cupboard. My sons "never getting rid of that bat"
Proof for me that grading does not really impact performance
but two Volante (R7 grade 2) versions not the same, too bottom heavy and very firm. Maybe that shape/balance was not for us.
We have had Grade 2's and 3's. Happy with the willow in those grades but wouldn't say generously graded e.g. Gray Nicolls always seem quite generous

I visited them earlier in the year. Very impressed with the one of their cheap specials and the guy behind it is more of an engineer than a salesman.

I can't believe this was nearly 4 years ago...

Chase are massively underrated in my view, especially as they were priced a little lower than most for a long time. Pressing and handles as good as anyone.

Seems a lot of people picked up on their cheaper specials. They still sell their R1s (butterfly grades) for around £100 in the finback and volante shape.

Any pictures of the vortex? & any reason why you never went back for another one? Given its shorter blade longer handle i’d expect the pickup to be slightly better. In terms of the vortex shape, is it concaved at all?

not concaved at all. edges average. even spread of willow
my lad plays EVERYTHING off the back foot, holding the base of the handle... and when he shot up he was hitting half the balls at the bottom of the bat. the vortex we have is about 2.5cm short. not ruling out another one though (or a H4L T20). pick up is awesome

I was impressed with Chase when I popped into have a look through the warehouse doors one Sunday. I was visiting the cricket shop on site for boots and couldn’t resist sticking my head through the open door. Dan Swaine invited me in and encouraged me to browse around.
He overheard me explaining the cleft colour grades (black is G1) to my partner and the processes in turn to convert a cleft into a bat. Probably reassured Dan I’m not a hooligan. Had a great chat with Dan about the evolution of bats and how his own tree growing was coming along. As I’m Berkshire based loads of players use them so I had picked up a few. My only gripe is that this year the handles had slimmed down but Dan explained they were moving to a lighter ‘baseball’ style handle for bat speed. Which is the fashion this year. All the Chase bats I’ve picked up for feel from teammates feel light. Well balanced, in the fact that I know I just need a 2nd grip and Im sorted.
If I need a bat again I dont think I could go wrong with a Chase R1 butterfly custom which would barely be 125 pounds on the website. Handmade and hand pressed all locally in UK, a price range for all budgets. whats not to love.
