Title: Kookaburra 2024 Range
Post by: Six Sixes Cricket on September 21, 2023, 10:20:24 AM
Morning,

Viewed Kookaburras Range yesterday, obviously cant share anything yet, but a few details on the range for you:
3 Retro bats for next year...
1 players replica.... need deep pockets!!
1 new bat in the range.... really decent full size low middle bat....Tho it is a short blade long handle
Pro gloves are ummm very interesting and not for me... but a good talking point!

If anyone is after some bats from this season i have a sale on:
Kookaburra Bubble 2.1 SH Cricket Bat – RRP £400 – Was £360 – Now £280
Kookaburra Vapour 3.1 SH Cricket Bat – RRP £300 – Was £270 – Now £210
Kookaburra Bubble 4.1 SH Cricket Bat – RRP £225 – Was £200 – Now £150
Kookaburra Rapid 4.1 SH Cricket Bat – RRP £225 – Was £200 – Now £160

Interesting, thanks for the update. I'm keen to see what they're like.

Earlier this year I spent far too long comparing UK Kook gloves to Australia Kook gloves.
UK - https://www.kookaburrasport.co.uk/cricket/cricket-protection/batting-gloves/?per_page=20&current_page=1&sort_by=9 (https://www.kookaburrasport.co.uk/cricket/cricket-protection/batting-gloves/?per_page=20&current_page=1&sort_by=9)
Aus - https://www.kookaburrasport.com.au/cricket/cricket-protection/batting-gloves/?per_page=20&current_page=1&sort_by=9 (https://www.kookaburrasport.com.au/cricket/cricket-protection/batting-gloves/?per_page=20&current_page=1&sort_by=9)

I much preferred the Aus Pro Players Ghost gloves (actually, the 2022/23 ones) to the UK ones, and to my shame ended up shipping a pair to the UK. Lovely gloves, far too good for what I need.

Aus recreational players certainly pay a premium for their gear

Hefty prices

from what i can tell, nearly all aussie sponsored kookaburra players use the ghost pro gloves in which ever colours match their bat range.

surely they might think they are worth retailing in the UK at some point, rather than variations of split finger designs which are all pretty much the same.

have always preferred the sausage style gloves, picked these up this season and have been the best so far

Nice stickers, nice price tag too!

Are these the most expensive pads on the market?

Maybe all the new tests mean companies will try and get a couple of years out of a range before launching a new one?

The stealth gloves and pads look identical to last years (or the pro models do at least) - I wonder if this means no new tests?

Support small business testing or not the testing process is ridiculous and pushed prices to an even more ridiculous level. £275 for a set of pads and gloves is just mind blowing

What’s the latest with that ?

Is it mandatory every brand owner has to test before selling ..

As a cricketer who grew up using a fibreglass Kahuna for his first 5 years of cricket, seeing this in the 2024 Retro range is so exciting!! Looks like their is a G1 and a G4 EW model.

Didn't they do these in Aus recently? Just stickered I take it rather than graphite/carbon or whatever it was back in the day?

Good point likely stickered

Guessing that’s not as good looking graphite

They have been for the last 10 years so can’t see why this year will be any different between 103-105mm

I thought it was a more recent thing with the focus on scale weights and also more demand from 2019 etc ..

Kook have they been owners by SG forever too ?

Post by: Cpatel93 on November 01, 2023, 08:39:59 PM
@Thamesvalley I'm not sure if SG owns Kookaburra but I know a lot of their bats were made by SG as far back as 2019. I was in It's Just Cricket at the time and remember hearing that it was the case

Interesting I thought they were SG owned but my memory might be hazy too

this may not be the case, I’m sure someone will know here

According to their website, Kookaburra is still an family-owned Australian business- https://www.kookaburrasport.co.uk/our-story (https://www.kookaburrasport.co.uk/our-story)

I had understood that SG make bats for them rather than owning the brand

The two Kooks I've tidied up for clubmates were very SG-esque for sure. I'd heard SG made for Kookaburra as well, pretty much anything not in their top ranges. Not a fan of the handles at all but they're well pressed and nice shapes.

They aren’t owned by SG.

SG have made their bats for the best part of 20 years, maybe longer

Oh dear, this is going to be expensive!

Anyone know if it is actually backed properly rather than just a sticker which I imagine will come away fairly quickly?

It's imagine it's a full sticker, with style form of graphite/carbon fiber effect?

The new Australia ridgeback has just been revealed. Its the 1998 version with the teardrop shaped ridge. In my opinion the best ever version was the 1999 with the all red front sticker and red and green teardrop sticker on reverse. Oh and definitely with a yellow grip
