Steven Smith confirmed as David Warner’s replacement at the top of the order. Cameron Green, who CA had previously indicated they see as the long term number 4 is confirmed as the new number 4.
Slightly bizarre that Smith moved up, seeing as he’s never opened in first class cricket. But he’s the best of the best so if anyone can make it work it’s him.
There’s no path to dropping back down the order either.
Bancroft snubbed again and if he has half a brain he’ll see there’s no future for him at Test level.
Renshaw the extra batsman replaces Marcus Harris.
Tests are at Adelaide and a day/night gig at Brisbane.

Steve is going to get a rude awakening as time goes as opener in test cricket ..

Yeah right! They're hardly going to drop him are they.
Interesting move for Aus to jig the team around so much, still find it hard to square the Cam Green hype with the player we've seen in test cricket. Hopefully isn't the start of Steve Smith 3.0...

I think Green is more likely to end up Crawley 2.0 than Smith 3.0. Really does get after it which might fit in with a top 3 of Khawaja, Smith and Labuschagne.

Blimey I'm not worried about Green becoming the new Smith (more like the new Watson), but actual Smith himself rediscovering his mojo and churning out thousands of runs at the top of the order is a sobering thought!

Ah I follow you now! Part of me can see it but Smith has always been about that awesome hand-eye coordination and it's only natural that starts to fade at some point.
