Title: Cold pressed linseed oil
Post by: Sloggerz on January 28, 2024, 09:21:52 PM
I came across a bottle of cold pressed linseed oil at the local grocery store for £1. Is this suitable for oiling cricket bats? It smells similar to raw linseed oil.

I know it should be raw and not boiled but I can’t see that there would be any issue with cold pressed linseed oil.

Generally official bat oil from GM, GN, Kook is £4-£6 for 75ml.
But you can get 500ml for 6ish quid from DIY shop or online (Amazon).
2L tubs available for just over the tenner if youre really getting through the stuff or lifetime.
I don’t think linseed oil goes off ever as long as tightly sealed.
I swear I remember using an old bottle in the garage as a kid which looked at least 30 years old at the time.
