Title: Got myself a low density monster
Post by: myic90 on July 03, 2024, 11:36:59 AM
Hi folks, long time lurker, 1st time poster. Recently purchased this low density monster and thought: What better way to get off the mark in the forum?

Feast your eyes. Lower graded willow due to ugly grains, but pings like a mother*. Blue stains running through the face and one of the edges. Iron deposits? perhaps someone can clarify.

42.5 mm edge
66.5 mm spine
full profile
9ish grains, uneven in areas.
30mm toe
1109g = 2lb 7.1oz

I've been told it was not over dried, but I don't have access to my moisture meter at the moment. I'll test it and update this post this weekend.

What’s the width of the bat

Around 106.5, so definitely not full width. I'm not sure how heavy grips are nowadays, but the stock grip certainly feels light at around 23g. I might add another grip because the handle is very skinny.

Edit: Upon further measurement, there is also narrowing of around 1.5 mm at the top. Perhaps the unicorn I thought is merely a horse with a horn glued on! Regardless, still pleased as punch with this get. Bat is feather light and pings.

P.S. I keep getting the robertsbridge bat maker question wrong, is it not gray nicolls?
