Just saw the news on BBC website.
V sad, shocked, but not totally unexpected I guess after prev news of illness of unclear prognosis a couple of years ago. Thoughts with family/friends.
Will always live in my mind his pullshot off one leg, and his cover drive almost Sangakkara-esque (or should that be the other way round?)
Rest well, great innings but all too short.

Worth enjoying again.
He was tough as anything, but still a classy and elegant batsman. RIP

Thorpe's Ridgeback is definitely the one I remember with the most fondness. Playing that pull shot the way only he (and maybe a few West Indians) can.

My absolute favourite player when growing up. He seemed to be the only one the Aussies feared in a pretty poor era for English cricket.

Exceptional player and as has been mentioned in his era the player the oppo really wanted to get out 55 is to young for anyone to be taken away from family and friends

Probably my all time favourite batsman, and one of my heroes. So stylish, great puller and square cutter. Really determined, tough and classy. Such a sad loss.

So sad to hear the circumstances around his passing, and his previous ill health. Just wonder how much undiagnosed MH issues in the first class and international game both current and former cricketers, and if the powers that be could be doing anything more to help in future.
