Apart from the big commercial companies, what are people's favourite custom companies to go to for bats?
I've had absolute crackers from Scott, Willow and Wand, Vulcan, the artist formerly known as Jedi (now Titan) and Red Ink to name a few. Any others people should look for, either stock shapes or custom orders, especially as some of the prices of the big brands are reaching (or reached? ;) ) "silly" levels (well, for me at least!)? I think support for these other brands is hugely important to keep the balance in the market and not price out too many at the club levels, but keep those who have (possibly false?) aspirations of great batting prowess dreams alive (until injury or a string of ducks come along :D )

Mr William Gunn and Thomas Moore, wish they would do custom bats, fussy them two.
The ones you have mentioned people speak highly of them. If you can get a reliable custom service from the sub continent Pakistan or India, thats also a route to to take.

I ordered a custom CA Legend direct from CA, great bit of wood and played out lovely BUT i ordered 2.8 and they sent a mid 2.10 even after telling them many times. I had someone go to the factory to place the order. Also, wasn't that much cheaper.

Had some lovely bats from likes of Oxfordshire, Red Ink, Garrard, TCL, but for me the bats that have been my favourites have been from Scott.
Jonny balances his bats really nicely, they go well with very little preparation, and he does the big modern shapes really well. Just wish he'd get some funkier sticker colours in so I could indulge in something daft 😂

A story as old as time.

Or even just restocked the blue ones :(

Absolutely agree with view on Jonny's bats, excellent balance and pings like mad!
Ooh yes, I forgot my Garrard (& Flack back then) - was a stunner of a bat. Never tried an Oxfordshire bat but always heard good things about them. Way back I remember having had a really good Redback bat (Paradox I think) bat, and a nice Black Cat Shadow, both of which have long left this life :(

The grassroots campaign to bring back the blue stickers starts here 😅

Just get the white ones and a blue felt tip 😆

If you're wanting 50 bats, you can have whichever stickers you want mate 😂 Full design licence!
Appreciate this tho mate. You've been through a few bats, so great to hear this and some great batmakers in that list too. Thanks 🙏

I've seen quite a few come through the workshop and genuinely, some great smaller scale batmakers out there. All have different strengths I think, so difficult to choose. Put your trust and money with most though and you'll get a great custom made bat.
The only one I've actually bought has been a @Chad custom, as I felt it only right to show him some support for all the support he's shown my little brand. It's a beaut too! I'll get around to reviewing it in a Chad style at somepoint 😄

I too can also highly recommend Scott bats. Johnny made me a fantastic bat based on my old favourite. When it wasn't quite how I wanted he happily made some changes. Service is second to none and will be using him again the next time I'm after a new bat.

R+H cricket, Knew him from school saw him making bats on a facebook forum messaged him and not gonna lie been to his shed now 5-6 times probs spent 2 hours each time there going through his bat collection and also his already made bats and customs coming along the way. bought 4 bats from him now all preform amazingly and is very very easy to work with

Never used or tried a Scott so can't really comment - but have heard some great feedback.
Oxfordshire are always decent bats.
I agree with Redback as I have had a couple of very nice bats in the past.
Black Cat were obviously amazing - the willow was from the land of the Black Cat owner so he could choose whichever clefts he wanted!! Plus I believe that they were TK made, which will obviously be fantastic!!
I won't really comment on which would be "Best" as that very much depends on individual taste!

What happened to Redback?

Custom Bats Forum. ;)
Used to be the case mate when the brands and sponsors were involved. Should be the custom cricket chat forum these days unfortunately

What happened to Redback?
They still seem to have a website up and running. From the pics though, looks like decals have not changed in a decade or more (slthough not too bad to start with, might do with a refresh if still active).

Made by Wombat now, bought the Redback brand a year or two ago

With names like Redback and Wombat, sounds very Antipodean!
Maybe some regard the SW as being in the southern hemisphere? :D

Blank Bats - I liked them, especially the B20 - wish I'd never got rid of it.
Ryan Kelsall made a very good bat, as does the Northern Monkey!

Blank bats is another brand that doesn't get much airtime recently I've found, but still running and offering the B20 shape it seems from their website. Is it still the same looking shape that you were thinking of?
Think an Oxfordshire bat might be on the list for next season given the recommendations on this thread (and other posts).

@hell4leather cricket for me.
I hope Matt continues to produce bats for as long as I am playing.
