Hi
My friend was considering this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387624873598 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/387624873598)
I know grains are not everything but is likely to be a pro bat or too hard to tell ?
Not cheap either , is it slightly used and refurbed ?
-
What exactly do you understand/mean by 'pro bat'?
-
Looks a nice stick but as @Kulli says, what is your mate wanting? It's a decent Grade 1, looks a good size if that's what he's after but people do put Pro on anything these days and then people think they're getting a bat intended for Joe Root!
Doesn't mention the weight tho?
-
True you’re right Johnny
I’ll make him aware of what you said

In my experience, Tim does test the bats and I trust his judgement - the guy has more years in the industry than most.
I have a few "pro" bats and some have superb grains, whereas one or two are not as pretty but respond incredibly to both mallet and ball!
I would simply view them as excellent performance bats - not worth too much overthinking about which sponsored player or where they were heading for.
But if Tim has rated them as that quality, then they will be quality!
-
If it's a genuine Keeley 99.9% your mate would get a very decent bat. At that price though, I'd probably want a bit more security than a bloke I don't know on eBay.
-
Agree
Seems top heavy price and may have been refurbed
-
£500 on a bat and £3.71 on posting it!! 🤪
-
you can get a grade 1 superior for 470 or a worx for 440 in their black friday sale .. choose your own stickers etc. your not going to score any more runs because its a top end grade 1 rather than an off the shelf grade 1 you 100% know is legit

I agree mate. He's forgotten more about bat making than I and most others know no doubt. I wasn't meaning to be disparaging about Keeley. My point was, it won't play any better or worse than any other I wouldn't have thought. As all bats that come out of Keeley will be great bats.
Its also why I struggle with the grading on performance, as in my opinion nobody can really say 100% if a bat will be better than another just after it's been made. Most will Grade as 'Pro' these days based on size I'd have thought.
For that money, I'd personally buy direct from Keeley rather than from eBay.

I have bought and sold things with the seller previously. He’s a nice genuine guy and the bat is brand new, he sent me a few snaps of it when he received pictures of the cleft from Keeley

I can’t seem to see the weight on listing .
Good to know about genuine , potentially a heavier bat ?
-
Buy a bat that feels right in your hands.

Not sure I would go with that, I would see what black Friday deals Tim is doing over the next few days and buy one direct or from a retailer.
