Title: Selecting A Bat Over The Decades
Post by: Purist90 on March 01, 2025, 06:00:43 PM
As we all get older and our bodies change ‘shape’.
Do our bat preferences change too?
Weights, specs, pickup balance, handle size?
Does our technique and grip change over time too?
I feel my bat preference has mildly changed every 10 years. But I tend to stick with what I know. And I feel choice in bats has never been so good. From traditional shapes still available to the modern chunky bats with a SB/LH setup.

Lets discuss!

I have gone lighter and shorter. Used to use 2.10 but now down around 2.9. Also using shorter blade bats.

Weight is because I am older and reactions are slower. I also now find myself opening (local village - nothing demanding).

Length just feels better but accept its probably psychological. Anything from an inch to half an inch. Still with a short handle.

Love chevron grips. Used to use the octopus ones.

Always liked semi-oval handles with a single grip.

I may be going thru a similar transition. Good thing is that I have made to the "transition". Bad this is that I don't know what I want. Haha.

I am hoping this will be a fun trial-and-error period.
