Title: I had an AI net...
Post by: steyn92 on February 22, 2026, 09:27:34 AM
I have a few thoughts on some improvements - happy to hear others
Had it set up for Good length/back of a length bowling, changed it to good about half-way through as it was predominantly shorter.
Had a slog towards the end.
Speed was 73-75mph
Seam movement was set to 1 away
Line to Off stump - it bowls most things there, but will offer variation.

I’m probably not the best person to give advice. But the one thing that stands out to me, is how much you are playing outside of your eyeline when playing on the offside with little footwork.

A drill I used to use when I was coaching it getting the batter to lead with their left shoulder and lean towards cover. Over exaggerate at the beginning until it becomes natural and reduce it.

The theory was to lead with shoulder and head and the feet would instinctively move to stop you from falling over. It didn’t always work, but that’s the thing that stood out to me.

@steyn92 - not a coach or anything, but here's a list of things I spotted that I can see as being potential symptoms of some root technical issues:

They say facing a bowling machine is about 5mph quicker than facing an actual bowler - if 70mph is what you'd normally face, maybe have a net at 65mph to see how you fare? (I rarely do any bowling machine work due to the availability of it) Perhaps the deliveries are a touch quicker, hence why you got into a pre-emptive footwork.

I think if I try remember back to when I've had net sessions where this has been the case, my training partner would tell me to try play beside the ball, and to hit it into the ground. If it's full, then make sure I cash out and hit it as hard as I can into the ground, while maintaining my shape. This would achieve a couple of things:

If you join the discord and post up there, I do feel the community is a lot more responsive there than on CBF. :) Will be plenty on there to say I'm talking rubbish too I'm sure, but thought I'd stick my neck out for you here haha
