Title: Knocking in and Playing in.
Post by: 100 not out on March 18, 2010, 12:29:35 PM
Is there a difference between the two. In my mind. . . knocking in is the preparation of a bat, that is to be played in.

Playing in is getting it ready for match use.

How long on average to play in a bat before it starts going. i mean before it starts to ping properly. i have read somewhere its the time that small cracks start to appear that its at its peak. Any ideas

I think it depends when it starts to go, my Woodworm and Ayrtek went straight away but my mate's Catalyst and Readers took half a season/a season to really go...

Playing in is using old balls with slow bowlers and just blocking which effectively knocks the bat in.
