Cricket World do some good stuff, the GM batmaking video was great.
-
tom i know or think big roy's pads are one offs are you looking to bring a range out like them
-
Nah, if someone wants traditional pads they can get similar ones from Newbery or SS. But it seemed kind of pointless to be sponsoring a player to use other pads. I got them made up for Roy as he only wanted standard looking pads and sausage gloves.
-
Was Symonds using a mongoose bat though or not sky + the game Sunday and I'm pretty sure it wasn't a mongoose.
-
It's can assure you it's a Mongoose bat, supplied by Mongoose yes. I think it does have a mini-splice in though or maybe a full one. He's a big guy so uses long blade.
-
Just a bit different from what I've seen before Tom, full splice i think it had and looked a different shape but obviously custom to his spec. The ball disappeared a long long way off the bat.
-
Yeh, Roy sent me one of his old bats which went off to be copied. Didn't see the copied bats, but he definitely is using them hence the flashy new stickers.
-
That reminds me about the flashy new stickers.
-
tom going to ask a bone question here is roy old bat available to buy
-
Not this one, it has gone back to him. However I'll see what happens at the end of the tournament although any old pro's bats I have first refusal on. Looking at building up a nice collection on the office wall.
-
What is wrong with the ones you make shape wise, if it has a splice and longer blade and different shape surely it defeats the point of paying him?
-
We custom make bats for the public. We can also produce long blade bats. Can be ordered through our website.
Players can be incredibly picky and dealing with their requests, trying to understand what they want in their bat when you've never done a bat for them previously whilst there the other side of the world isn't the easiest thing.
Sales, press coverage and interest would indicate the decision to sponsor both of these players has been the correct one regardless of your thoughts.
-
you can not argue with that to be honest even my little boy wants one.
in 25 years of watching cricket i have never seen so much of one company kit on telly being shown as much
it was the mongoose show think there moving into the big time
to be honest you see new company normally sponsoring bowlers at first class level but i think mongoose crushed a few people presumption today (even mine).
you can not fault there marketing it was a dream for them and as the saying goes "every goose has it days"
i suspect they might be having a few more of them
without doubt moving in the right way to joining the big boys
-
Why does the Mongoose guy say that the Cor3 doesn't have a splice?
-
Why does the Mongoose guy say that the Cor3 doesn't have a splice?
Because it doesn't!
-
It does, but it's in the handle.
-
It does, but it's in the handle.
Is it visible?
....I thought not! So in my eyes it does not have a splice!

being visible has nothing to do with its existence though does it

Highlights of yesterdays innings
-
Tom, it seems like India might be a big market for you ...atleast among the big cities where they have relatively higher disposable income. Mongoose is the big buzz going around local cricket circles in Delhi...
-
Just watched that interview, that marcus fella seems like he is full of it!!
-
Just watched the Haydos highlights - it was a shame that the coverage didn't show how far he was hitting it - I would imagine it's a big moment for Mongoose - a high profile pro finally having a really big knock with the mmi
-
If I was the bowler, I would have banged one in first ball with the mmi!
I really want one, a Cor3.
Tom, thought anymore on the soft goods? I had a couple of thoughts, the colours on the cor gloves ahould be the green of the cor bat rather than the turquoise. Also, will you be keeping the same instep on the pads, as I mentioned at Taunton, they are great, hard wearing and don't squeak + won't get dirty!
Thanks

more positive PR?
-
Yep, we've had 400 news articles and 1,500 blog mentions in the past week.
And 200 runs from our bats in the IPL.
Best week so far :)
-
Lol - i would question some of the things said on that blog - anyway, more PR, well done Mongoose, pat on the back.
