People..... HELP!!!!
It's my birthday on Thursday and the old dears have said that they will buy me some new cricket boots! I actually cant decided what to go for!!
The options are either ASICS, ADIDAS or buy some trainers and get them spiked!!
Thoughts people????
Reds
-
I would go with Asics ive had my pair for about 4 years and they are still going strong! Im an all-rounder so they are perfect but if i was a batsman only I would go with getting some lightweight asics/adidas running shoes and get them spiked
-
I'm a keeper batsman mate - decisions decisions!!!!
-
Spiked trainers then mate, as surely you want them as light as possible??
-
yer mate I do, but then I also want them to be strong if you get me??
-
Nike centurys
-
Yeah running shoes will be strong you can get X-trainers that are extremely light and are designed for X runners so are very robust and strong.
Asics, adidas and Reebok do these if i remeber oh and new balance
-
Asics gel Advance II's would be a great buy, providing your feet have stopped growing!
-
i have asics gel advance 2 size 10 for sale mate, get in touch if your interested
-
dont go for nike century's. i have some
-
what wrong with them bud ever tried them
-
there great and so comfy, but for keeping in there not ideal, sole is very rigid so going on your toes is abit of an effort.
-
Ive been thinking about the same, have used all 3 options Adidas 22yard lite - very comfortable and cushioned but on the heavy side, Ascics Gel Advance - lightweight but not the most comfortable, spiked trainers - lightweight and reasonably comfortable but not great support for lateral movement which as a keeper is rather important, just depends what your priorities are
-
If I were you I would not get running shoes spiked for batting, running shoes are designed to be as light as possible and over foot protection is minimal. They will provide next to no protection to a yorker or a mistimed shot onto your foot.
-
Personally i never considered this an issue with trainers, cricket specific boots are not designed with that in mind its more lateral stability thats an issue with runners, most are designed for running - movement of the ankle forward and back in the running action with a slight bit of rotation or lateral movement, not as much change of direction associated with fielding or turning for a run, has anyone else considered this an issue with runners?
-
My Pumas are very light but I'm sure you can get much better as they're not amazing
-
I never used to until I nearly broke my toe on a yorker wearing trainers!
-
Ouch, i think spiked trianers are good if they are the right type of trainers (obvious i know!) but if they arent right, it could be quite dangerous.
-
Yeah I lost my big toenail on my front foot wearing trainers. Fine for fielding, not the best for batting IMHO
-
Yeah agreed, not great for bowling in either i guess ???
-
My toenails still on luckily from a hit, not bad got 29* opening :P
-
Haha class colesy! Was it a 5 over match? ;)
woooooo 1000!!!!!
-
Lol 1000 is old new Peplow ;)
It was a Sunday league game against Stone, I was on 22 off 18 overs (:() then got a yorker that hit my toe, I thought I'm scoring so slowly I'll retire hurt ;) came back in at the end to hit a few and get an extra batting point :D
-
Your post count is flying mate, it took me forever to get through the nervous nine-hundreds!
-

I'm looking at getting a pair of trainers spiked too... just wondered what you think of these two trainers?

Let me know your thoughts cheers

I have a pair of these Puma trainers and they're the most comfortable trainers I've ever had. I was also looking at trainers to get spiked from Sports Direct and I would deffinately go for Puma.
Don't think you can go wrong with either of these two to be honest.
