Title: Pad design
Post by: Colesy on April 21, 2010, 06:08:33 PM
I was thinking why aren't pads made in one piece, i.e. having the main pad but instead of having straps on the back have one piece of latex that fits round your leg in a more comfortable way than strap. Similar to the arm guard design.

Cheers

Joe

They'd be a lot hotter/sweatier.

That's an interesting idea actually joe, would be worth considering.

Not sure structurally how it would work but I get what your thinking.

would not be as secure fitting on to the leg i.e would bounce up and down unless it was ridiculously tight. would aslo be hard and expensive to manafacture, would need the material to be very strong and the seams to be so to.
i have football shinpads that use this idea but suffer from the problems i have mentioned.  weak/breaking seams and they move all over the shop.  so with a greater weight of a cricket pad on the front i dont think it would work too well.

They would also presumaly move from side to side round the leg
