Specking in the willow, a pin knot, slightly uneven grain. Grade 2 I would say.
-
Yes, possibly grade 3 as there is a blemish, quite shocking to be honest considering the quality of grade its meant to be...
-
Why I am guessing it was sold as g1! Which manafacturers?
-
Indeed it was meant to be, all will be revealed in my next topic in a review...
-
Possibly you may get more of a responsive if you say what bat and model it is and then people will them know what it should be like but performance is key not always the looks. I have seen many g1 kooks and others like that.
-
Solitaire custom made G1, I am aware of the performance issues of any bat obviously looks come second but when you ask for something (7-9 straight grains) and get something else it does get you a bit miffed....
-
Looks like a very good bat for £110 ..... you would not get much for this amount in most big brands who make bats in the UK..... if it pings and pick-up well then forget the looks and grains
-
Yes I agree Yash it pings nicely off a mallet, but aren't we forgetting the principle of "custom made" bats that are made to your specs? That is the only reason I bought It and when I don't receive what I don't want I have every right to be unsatisfied...
-
what specs did you ask for?
-
Grains wise 7-9 straight grains with no imperfections or heartwood...
-
Don't get too caught up on looks, if people want believe that a firm can make purely grade 1 bats then they are kidding themselves, its not possible. In defence of Solitaire it might not have shown any blemish as a cleft, you can only grade what you can see and sometimes when the face is cut a grade 1 can drop to 3 and a grade 3 can rise to a 1.
Your spec's would need a super clean cleft, have you contacted them about it?

No I haven't and don't intend too, I am happy enough with the bat and will use it, just defeats the point of the whole "custom made claim", I did receive a super clean cleft from them last time in my last review of Solitaire, he made me a new bat which is pictured here, but life goes on....
