Right guys - just got this bat off a team mate - havnt seen many of them around - i just wanted to test all of the keen bat geeks on the forum and see whether they can identify this bat from the shape of the bat, the handle and the shoulders!!!!!
Think your up to the challenge??? Just write down your answers and i'll put you out of your misery tomorrow!
By the way, the bat weighs 2.6 with the grip, it's a feather light bat and is used by our only femalie member at the club! No concaving whatsoever! Also, this batmaker really rounds off the edges of the bats, which i think is a nice touch.
I will be investing in one of these bats later this year - i think they're awesome and this bloke does fantastic handles (really oval)
Anyway - guess away!!!!

the GN millennium has scoops mate.
My guess is M&H, but the weight is an issue there.
-
Salix
-
Old slazenger...
-
is it a bat made in clyst st mary ? cant think of the name think its perfection of something like that
-
Hawk
-
ACE of Elland?
-
roman jaques?
-
I'd have guessed this particular one was a Baronet, although with you considering purchasing one it would indicate they'd be new. So perhaps Hawk?
-
Charlie French? Crown?
-
Puma+M&H?
-
I have a Baronet here that I cant stand due to the profile and a horrendously thick oval handle.
It definately looks like your bat SS!
-
Looking at the handle and shape i'm guessing warsop.
-
charlie french, and the jeans are matalan :)
-
I reckon the jeans could be Asda!? ;)
-
I hate to sell you both - your jean guessing is almost as bad as your bat guessing :)
For the record, they are Mambo.
-
still think thats a charlie french lol
-
I would say Warsop based purely on the handle comment or a Millichamp.
-
Pretty sure thats a Warsop with that profile...
-
Were you going to say what bat it is Shilly??
-
Not sure about the jeans, but the bat is the same profile as an old county but of mine.
-
hunts county or old slaz?
-
Hey bad fella come on spill the beans what is the bat then?
-
Well - somebody on here got it right - The Finisher. The bat is in fact a Wessex Cricket Bat and the model is the Perfection - bats are made in charmouth, however i'm not sure whether he just shapes a part made, buys in blanks and stickers them up or makes the whole bat from the ground up. I will post pictures later of the labels.
I will try and make a visit to him this year, last time i bought a bat off him was years ago and i didnt have an interest in how they were made - now i do and i would like to see what he does with the bats.
Anyway - it may be the case that those who said hunts county could also be correct, as last time i was there he had a fair bit of hunts stock lying around the house.......i shall endeavour to find out :)
-
How about a classic puma Ballistic the old one with Orange stickers that Millichamp used to make for Gillchrist!!!? PS am gonna start stalking you at car boot sales as a couple of really good finds there fella!!!
-
Charlie French the old 2000 or Tourist models.
Oh I see we've already been told, that was my other guess though ;)

Does he buy his clefts from Hunts?
-
This is what i would like to find out - my guess would be yes, but i intend on doing a little bit of investigating!
-
By the way - i should also mention that this bat is probably about 10 years old.
-
I thought he was dead!!!
The last one I saw new was 4/5 years ago at best.
-
Father christmas (as he is affecionately known) is still alive, answering calls and making bats (to be proved) as of last month.
I also haven't seen many new wesssex bats - all the more reason to take a little trip down to him, check up on the old man - could even introduce him to nipper :)
-
I'll have to come down with you.
-
i think im busy that day
-
In Charmouth as is Devon/Dorset? About 15 minutes from me, where abouts are they there?
-
The bat I was referring to is about 18 years old, I will see if I can dig it out of the loft tomorrow and take a couple of pics to compare it
-
Liam - yes, charmouth as in devon/dorset - i cant remember where his house is, so i would have to phone him up and get his adress.
Buzz - look forward to seeing this old beasty!
-
Silly - as requested (one pic in the my first bat section)
Please remember that this bat is 18 years old and was used for for or 5 seasons!

She's a beaut Buzz!!!! I really like the old hunts bats, just picked up a reflex special off a team mate and it has that massive ducks bill toe - an iconic shape in my opinion!!
For those who havn't seen the Wessex bat then here are the pics, the stickers wont amaze you but i dont think he cares much for that stuff.

I've always been a fan of the old school hunts bats. I had a reflex for a while, am a huge fan of the duck bill toe too, although i'm not sure of the performance value of them! The county laser was the bat I always wanted...

Any update on your visit to see 'Father Christmas'? If he's still making Wessex bats could you post his contact details?
