Just been in the loft at the parents house as was digging out an old bag for one of the lads at training tonight and found my 1st bat.....think this is where my affinity to Newbery began as scored a fair few runs with it back in the day as well as my 1st six....
2.5lbs with 2 grips on it......truely lived upto the lightweight title!

has seen better days but then it has been in the loft for the past 15 years :(

What was everyone elses first bat? Anyone got any pics? Mine was a size 4 Open Champiinship David Gower Autograph
-
That bat looks awesome and in really good nick - tempted to send it back to newbery to get it refurbished?
Expect a large cash offer from mr.brimble for that bat :)
-
think this maybe a Harrow.....prior to this I had a slaxenger v100 i think which was a size 4 but were going waaaaay back
-
bit of a split down the inside edge of it im afraid which is a shame....my series 1 went on the outside edge!
refurb would be good not sure how it would come out like though :)
-
actually - i think these older bats look good as they are, once you refurbish them they loose a bit of character!
I dont think i've even cracked the outside edge of any of my bats, it's always my inside edge that goes on all of my bats - not good enough to nick it properly :)
-
yeah bar the manky firbetape it would loo good...seems to have turned into a mass of glue over the years of storage!
-
Slazenger V100 back in the day.
Kook big kahuna upon my comeback
The Newbery looks decent for its age! Stickers not changing much will help that.
-
my first bat was a custom made one lol (silver spoon or what :D) one of my dads old work mates made it for me, that was shortly followed by a GM Maestro 707!

A woodworm Premeier torch was my first REAL bat, scored a fair few runs with it, a highlight being, 33* in a 20/20 batted the whole innings.
-
Slazenger v100 size 4! What a bat.
-
V100's proving popular. Were any of yours like this?

Seems to look familiar to me, but it was a long time ago. It was for sale on an aussie car modifying website (random!)

duncan fearnley magnum

I started playing club cricket last year so the first bat I got was a plain bat sent to me from Pakistan. Following that my first bat of my will was GN Powerbow 3 Star :(
-
Mine was a Gray Nicholls twin scoop - going back a fair few years that and was copying David Gower!!!
-
I had a gray nicolls scoop :)
-
slazenger v1200! lovely £35 buy from JJB...
-
my first full sized bat was/is a County Caerulex (the size 3 DF Ian Botham Attack seems to have dissapeared during the last 20 years!) - back when County did bats with lovely old school stickers... I have one in my parents loft still in mint condition, but in the mean time, see the below. I got sponsored for a while at school so had to take the stickers off, however I put the only one I saved on in the end... my first shot in anger with this was a leg glance for 6 - and I scored my first fifty and first 5 hundreds with this lovely weapon... I don't think it is in bad nick for an 18 year old bat!
