Post by: espocrespo on May 03, 2010, 03:30:55 PM
Thinking about getting a lekka bat, anyone else had one?

I have 2 'normal' Lekka bats, and 2 Twenty20 Lekka bats, and all are top quality.
Decent willow, responsive blades and very decent prices too!

Will start with the cheapest Lekka I have - is a Warrior model but was improved by the nicer bat stickers.
I purchased a whole kit (bat, gloves, pads, helment, trousers) for a VERY good price!
I asked for a bat that responded well, and told them not to worry about the cosmetic looks! I got a bat that may not be very pretty but feels nice and goes pretty well from the few throw downs I've had!

In reply - the Lekka is excellent quality and finish! The T20 bat is perhaps not quite as good quality willow, but as the Joker is absolutely top notch, then that doesn't mean the Lekka is bad. In actual fact, the quality willow is equal to most of the bats I have, and there is not alot to choose between them.
Both the Joker and Lekka T20 are both very powerful bats. If you are looking for a rocket of a bat, then either would do the job!
If I had to choose between them, I guess it would come down to budget! The Joker is more expensive but slightly better quality willow.
The Lekka is value as good as I have ever seen, and the price is better that the Joker.

Is the Joker worth the extra money? I guess it depends what budget you have!
Which would I choose? That would be a tough choice - and thankfully I am not on a budget so I will leave that choice to others!  ;)

Title: Re: Lekka

I think the Lekkas are around 2'9-2'10?
My kitchen scales are not the most accurate, but it feels quite light!

I am an IT Consultant - I am something callled a SAP Technical Consultant.
I used to bully school children for their lunch money, but my taste in bats is more expensive now!
So now I finance my bat addiction by mugging pensioners coming out of the Post Office on Pension days!

Lovely response pete!

I thought you would come up with something equally as witty.
Title: Re: Lekka

Its a bit mean really!  ;)
Would neveer happen - the young kids tend to be too cheeky and mouthy these days. Whereas the pensioners would smack you over the head with their bags or brollies!

The edges are around 45mm fella - depending on what weight. But they are humungous for the weight!!  8)

It's a beauty! The finish is similar to my Newberys.

Grade 1 = £135 posted as a special forum offer, this will not last forever!
Grade 2 = £125 posted
Grade 3 = £120 posted.
Graded on cosmetics and performance by our batmaker.

There is a waiting list on the grade 1's at the moment as they have been selling quickly!

Thanks matt - just to point out quickly, the bat with the yellow stickers on page 1 was not sold to pete at anywhere near the price we would normally ask, it was Indian made grade 2/3 and one of a few left over from some samples.

Yes - and that was a great price!! Included with a helmet, pads, gloves, trousers!
And it makes a great bat to play with in wet conditions!  8)
