To remove the scuff sheet, peel it from side to side (or commonly known as, against the grain). Do this slowly to ensure no wood comes up with the scuff sheet.
I would recommend getting some good quality sand paper and giving it a sanding, starting with around grit 100 and finishing with grit 400.
Once complete, you can either apply a new scuff, oil it, or leave as is :)

is it true that nail varnish remover clean the cherry marks off the surface?

It does work as have done it on my anti-scuffs and they have come up looking cherry free!

dont you have to warm the suff sheet up with a haur dryer first.
