soon be revealed Dom, need to add few more to ur list
-
Have they given you a graphite insert lamination at all, i would love to see one of those :D
-
I hope these companies making them get banned from the world stage.
-
Why tom?
-
Because I know the MCC are paying particular attention to laminates. And the manufacturers deserve to be banned due to blatant disregard to the spirit and laws of the game.
-
hmm i suppose, but they are fun for nets and social games t20's the like.
-
seems to be alot of hype over laminated bats on here lately...am i right in stating they are illegal for use in league cricket?
Can anyone honestly say they would think of using one if they owned one and knew the chances of being caught were slim in a league game....if they go that well the temptation is always going to be there to give it a try IMO
-
Tom. . . . . .its all about supply and demand matey . . . these bats are being used by pro's too.
who would know if its a laminate if it was covered with fibre glass tape???
There are some big names who have used these bats.
Personally i cant wait for Asad to get his shipment.
looking forward to seeing them
-
im not saying the demand isnt there for a bat thats going to improve the distance you hit the ball....alot like golf clubs thats are illegal to use in competitions i guess.....clubhead the size of a shovel on some that i saw the other week....
-

i think this/carbon fibre would be a good un to laminate in between to get some decent rebound response from the two materials combined!
-
To some extent, I am with Tom - given they are illegal and using them in a match is againts the spirit of cricket - personally I would love one, but I have no idea when I would use it, so wont be partaking.
Plus if I do see one in a game I am playing I will make some comments to the umpire... who almost certainly wont have a clue what I am talking about!!!
-
People have said they perform better, though depending on the quality of the lamination they can provide no added benefit whatsoever......very hit and miss.
Tom - you worry too much about the big wigs at the MCC, it's not as if these bats provide 20% more power and a 15% increased bat speed.....
-
There are far too many old farts running the game. they think that innovations like T20 is sacrilege.
Some of them think that Ted Dexter and Tom Gravenny are still playing the game.
Anything that brings people to the game including further distance hitting has gotta be good.
-
Hmmm.... I don't think knowledge of laminated bats is particularly widespread - I think it would be easy for those in the know to get hold of them and use them, which gives them an unfair advantage. So, I'm kind of with Tom - manufacture of these bats should be banned. however, if i could get hold of one I would still probably use it in league cricket.
-
Bowlers dont have enough of a chance these days in my opinion, game is dominated by batsman
-
If batsman can have huge bats, why can't bowlers be allowed to tamper the ball? As Leo says, the game is far too batsman dominated...
-
I agree with choppy. ball tampering should be allowed within a limit. If everyone knew where to get a laminated bat im sure most people would.
-
Why use a laminated bat when you can use a mongoose mmi3 - scientifically proven to hit the ball further, makes laminates redundant surely?
-
Because personally at times i feel as if i couldnt hit with a barn door, let alone a half size bat!
-
Lol, @ the mongoose comment, to me they are a similar product, novelty!
We are chipping in for a low grade goose just for a laugh, it's not a serious bat.
-
tru if i was allowed to use one in schools' matches i would (Y) many people cant even tell theyre laminated though
-
Laminated mongoose possible?
-
Laminated anything possible really! i've seen a prototype 20/20 bat that was laminated......was the Ron Jeremy of cricket bat porn :D
-
To be honest, I don't think the league people can catch one if he is using a laminated bat. The league in which I play umpires are like 50 or 60 + so I don't think they even know how to figure it out whether it's laminated or not.
-
Yeh that's what I'm thinking no one would notice
-
I'd be interested as I would love to see the difference between them and regular bats.

Nice mention of the Hedgehog - and if the bat was anything like a 'goose, excellent analogy
-
It is quite surprising reading these comments. Some laminated bats work well, some don't, same as a normal bat. If the laminate isn't done properly you could end up with a worse performing bat. The hype around laminates and there exceptional performance capabilities is just that hype. I've seen some great laminates but that said I've seen some great bats. I've also seen some shocking ones, of all the ones I've seen, laminates that is, 2 of them were exceptional, the rest I would say you could get the equivalent in a normal cricket bat.
-
Andy
Out of curiousity the two exceptional laminates that you have seen, were they asian made??
i think i know the two you r referring to. . . .
-
one was one wasn't
-
I would like to think my Nipper makes it into your top 10 andy!!!!
Best responding bat i have ever seen had no lamination, no mumbo jumbo going on with profile, shortened blade or anything like that - it was a good bat, shaped well, with a legal modification to the handle and that bat puts any bat to shame :D
-
Saw a close up picture of Collingwood in the Gaurdian sports section yesterday.
90% sure he was using one.

Doesn't seem to have helped him much during the recent games...!
-
to be fair he hasnt needed to do much. Seems strange saying it but, England look a good team!
I think being skipper effects his game
-
Probably being sparse but what was the legal modification made to the handle please sillyshilly?
-
If im being 100% honest i dont know :D
