Title: >>>>>> To all Bat Makers <<<<<<
Post by: slcric on May 17, 2010, 08:32:47 AM
Hi all, this post is to all the Bat Makers here.I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, just be gentle if this is the wrong place :)

I bought a bat from ebay and the seller said that it was 1st grade english willow and turned out to be kashmir willow, and i payed $230 Australian dollars for it! and i'm really disappointed now.My parents gave me $300 to buy a bat and only $70 is left now.I can manage to scratch up a bit more bucks to buy another bat.So i'm looking for a bat maker from here who could make me a custom bat for a kind price considering the fact that i got ripped off :(

All I want is a 1st Grade English Willow short handle bat.I don't want any stickers or grips on the bat as i have a extremely low budget. All i want is a plain bat custom made by a bat maker so i know it is not a rip off.

Anyone who is interested to make me a bat please state a kind price,i will give the order to the lowest asking price.

If you paid via paypal then you can get your money back, open a dispute through paypal, say that the goods were fake and paypal in 99.9% of the cases will get you your money back. Then you will have $300 to spend on  good english bat :D

$70 probably wont get you a custom grade one bat, file a dispute on paypal and get your money back

From past experience in the UK it's been quite irrelevant if he's already withdrawn money from his account, the account goes into minus figures and Paypals debt collection agencys chase it.

...and if you're in Australia then you're not going to need a bat for a few months yet?

Thats a load of rubbish you've been told or are telling us. File a dispute with paypal, you will get your money back eventually - it's strange though, as most of the CA's i have seen on ebay are nearly always english willow - sometimes the bats are inferior quality for the model, but most of the time it's English willow. I've had experience of someone filing a complaint, they will take your money and ask questions later......got to love paypals style, bunch of mavericks!
slcric - i can tell you know you wont get the bat you are after, unless you up your budget considerably.

If you are off to India, I would try and get a bat you like while you are out there if I were you, it will save you some postage costs and import tax.

Do file a complaint with Ebay/paypal, you have legal rights under the trade description act - don't be negative about it, you must really try to get your money back, especially if you bought the bat as a "buy it now" which means you have the right to a full refund if you return the bat. It sounds like the guy in question has potentially committed a fraud - try going through ebay, for the amount you have been ripped off for it is definitely worth the effort.

SS is right, you will get your money back eventually.

I simply don't believe him, lie's to get a cheap bat. Paypal never make promises as to when you get your money back, it would have been credited to you regardless of what anyone else has done as long as you win your dispute, and you would have been required to send the bat back with a tracking number, as soon as the tracking number shows the bat is delivered then you get your refund from Paypal. This has taken me 2 days start to finish and also taken 3 weeks.

just file a dispute and give the reason 'item arrived damaged' - I personally guarantee that you will get your money back on the same day. The problem with paypal is that if you say its fake or not as described they get into all the details. You just want your money back, and rightly so, and using this is a shortcut

your after something for nothing and we all know it, instead of argueing with 2000+ post members such as talisman, get some money and buy a bat properly just like the rest of us have, you are not special and weve seen it all before

did you go to school and did you pass your maths exam? My guess would be no. No batmaker will buy a grade 1 cleft (£30-40) or a part made grade 1 cleft (£55-£75), shape the bat, bind it, sand it, buff it etc. On top of this you expect him to put his time into the equation as free, then include postage to Aus (£20?)......im no Carol Vorderman but even my simple maths say you are wrong still.
Essentially, the batmaker is looking to make either fook all or even lose money sending you a bat to Aus. I suggest you knock this post on the head and look perhaps to get another bat off ebay, or look around the forum for a bargain.

Custom made?! Pfft! Solitaire is the cheapest custom made G1 I've recognized and that's 100 POUNDS! which is a VERY good price. Yours is somewhat....unheard of

Can we see pictures of the CA bat you initially purchased?

Just to clarify $140 = £84.82 which is very very cheap for a normal G1 bat let alone a custom made one....I think you may struggle to find anything that will perform at that price. even when you knock off all the bits and bobs these dont add a great deal to the overall cost as broken down by SS earlier.

Even a Solitaire is going to cost £100 just for the bat and another £20-30 for the shipping to Aus so it maybe worth considering. Or as your off to India im sure for your money you can buy something out there to suit your needs.

Happy Hunting :)

Seeing as you won't post pictures of the initial bat, one I believe your a liar and two the g1 Charlie French I was about to offer has just been withdrawn.

Why would you not post pictures to prove your story?

I cant see the extras adding £30-£40 to a bat for OILING,KNOCKING IN,GRIP,TOE GUARD AND STICKERS im afraid.....if they cost £30-£40 ontop of the bat price we would be looking at bat prices in excess of £400 (in shops) for a G1 bat once marked up!!!!

Anyway this is neither here nor there if you are no longer asking/looking for a bat at that price ???
