I used my Ayrtek 12 vent on Saturday for the first time, firstly it is not a version that you can buy from Tom, he had a spare and I'm bigger than him and bought him beer in the bar under his flat.....
The lid is so very light, I have had mine in plain carbon fibre, with a little lacquer applied, looks stunning. The fit is better than my old Masuri as the shell seems to accommodate more head shapes and the only adjustment was to add the Titanium Albion grille from a sample Arytek to allow for my fat face. The helmet feels very secure with the lining pumped up, chin strap comfortable and well designed with the clip system.
I kept wicket on Saturday and wore the lid with our 2 "spinners" bowling in tandem on an interestingly bouncy wicket. I was able to hear and see very clearly as well as keep reasonably cool in the sun with no over on, over off scenario to fall back on.
Not had use for it batting yet but very happy after an unexpected first outing.

Pics please! Sounds great!

I had my Ayrtek put to good use on Saturday - my first delivery was from their opening bowler who was quite fired up having just picked up a wicket, bowled a beamer right at my head which i managed to top edge right into my grill and into my jaw (didnt hurt at the time, but eating was a bit of task yesterday :) ) - anyway, an inferior quality grill may have meant that i'd be sipping soup all week! Plus, on a hot day the ventilation was suprisingly good!

in the space of 2 games, I have been hit in the scone no less than 3 times! fortunately wearing a lid.
1st time: i charged a seamer trying to smash it, completly missed it but was 6 feet out of my crease, the wicket keeper threw "at the stumps" but actually hit me on the grille!
2nd time: i got a rapid, accurate bouncer on saturday, and wore it whilst trying to hook it, d'oh!
3rd time: got one that popped off the deck from a spinner and top edged it in to my face!
thank god for helmets!
-
how on earth did the keeper "miss" the stumps and hit your face if you were halfway down the track!
your advertising ayrteks safety well mr cricket :D
-
i was turning to slide my bat in, leaning down towards the crease and the keeper was about 10 feet back he underarmed it, went over the top of my stumps and hit my grill. its not an ayrtek but keep that to yourself!
-
ah o.k, i had images in my head of you finishing your massive hoik at the air, the keeper standing back and overarming at the stumps/your head lol
you sicken me! ;)

haha, its a masuri, but keep it under your baggy green ricky, ayrtek are the way forward!

Mike has a very hairy head - do the extra vents allow his brain to cool down?

i think the helmet looks awesome how it is there, completely blank!

Yeh funnily enough that's my lid I use now there ;) well in event of needing one as per Saturdays rather lively track!
-
Tom do you have any inner attachments for the helmets, what i mean is you replaced the lining however it has no sweat band type of padding and i sweat like mad which runs into my eyes. I could by a headband but thought id ask as id rather not wear a headband as it ain't my style.
-
Afraid not mate, the flocked finish should dry out pretty quickly but can't suggest anything else off the top of my head as there isn't anything to attact a sweatband type thing too really
-
A guy at our club wears a headscarf ala Sehwag, or Axl Rose ;)

No probs it was worth asking, may just glue a bit sweat band material onto the helmet or swallow my pride and wear a headband.
