I'm not sure if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum.
I thought that it might be interesting to ask forum members to have a check of their bats report back their findings.
What you need to do is, have a check of your favourite (best pinging) bat and report back whether the handle is stiff or has some flex in it. This way we can tell whether the better performing bats have stiff handles or some flex in the handles. (You must say bat brand, weight and flex or no flex)
I think this is one area often ignored, people get obsessed with edge thickness and no. of grains but pay little attention to thye handle.
I'll start off
CA Plus 10000 - 2lb 9oz - quite some flex in handle
-
Bas Vampire Shadow-2.10-Very stiff handle
-
GM Icon LE- 2lb 8, slight flex.
-
My Laver had a very stiff handle and played superbly, my Talisman has a mid way handle and again is superb. You might find that bats with handles designed to be stiff or flexi will play the best, most will just have a handle designed to not break and no more design input than that.

GM may make the very best handle on the market!!!
-
Angelina Jolie Limited Edition Bat with Grade 1++++ Willow - Rigid handle, very stiff :D
Talisman Perfect Storm with Black Stickers - Quite stiff handle, some flex but not much. Moving towards a more oval handle.
Talisman Perfect Storm with Pink Stickers - Bit more whippy, but not overly so. A slightly thinner handle.
Lekka TPX - Halfway house between stiff and whippy, probably due to the length of the handle.
-
GM Hero 808, 2 - 10, stiff handle...
-
my icon has a stiff handle but what i like best about it is that it doesnt curve up with the shoulders and stays thin down to the blade, making my low grip possible
-
my new bat i got todayy
stanford blaze 2-8
little bit flexi handle
-
Was your new SF Blaze free?
Or did you manage to find some money after you couldn't get a free bat??
-
If he got it free he did bloody well then seeing as its 120 on onlinestockist so id assume he found some cash down the back of the sofa :D
-
So if he can afford a nice bat like that, then why does he need a bat for free??
Sounds like a great sofa with £120 in loose change down there! :D

He must have raided my house over the bank holiday weekend!

bday prezzie from the grandma actually!!
-
ss matrix 2 lb 9 oz original handle extremely flexible. Replaced with a newbery handle, much stiffer, and I feel performance has been compromised
-
i can;'tell guys, and feel stupid and left out! How can you all tell??? they all feel so similar, maybe i havent used enough bats, woo i'll just buy more!

For me i much prefer a stiff handle with very little flex, i have a couple of Lavers and absolutely love them although i will add if they are too stiff they can break very easy. The last couple of Pro bats I've had have the carbon handle from GN and the damage is pretty bad around the shoulders which i believe is due to the handle.
