So I popped into my local cricket shop to pick up some bits and bobs, as is the law you have to have a little pick up and swing of the bats on display, I found a stunning Praestantia, having had one before it was easily the best bat I have had, this picked up like 2,8 but weighs 2,11 and the ball pings off it like nothing I used before! Here are some pictures!

Pictures are just from a phone so really don't do this bat justice!

oh i love salix bats, so classy and elegant. looks like you got yourself a beaut! Hope you get some runs with it!
-
may i ask how much???
-
Was a little bit pricy at £290, It was a bit of an impulse buy to be honest!
-
:o :o
people actually pay that much???!!!
-
£290!!!!!
Flippin heck man! Thats a lot of wonga! Nice looking bat mind you :D
-
christ! That is a lot!! Well it better be classy elegant and fly for that money! I could never justify that!!
"Wonga" ! :L yes s.s!
-
It seemed perfect pickup for me and to be honest it's worth close to that just as a piece of art!
-
wow... if i ever wanted to sell my car, perform sexual acts for money and live on the street for a month or two, i would probably go out and buy something like this with my £290.
-
£290 is a fair lot of money for a bat, even by todays standards, however if you are happy with it then it is bound to get some runs!
-
Good luck to you! Hope you can count it as money well spent at the end of the season!
-
man, Salix bats just ooze class. looks a stunner and if the pick up is anything to go by, you paid the right price.
-
looks like a beauty of a stick no blemishes I see, Salix always produce some great blades :) nice buy! Looks to be able to last a good 2 seasons with the width of those grains. 290 seems a bit steep but nether the less looks a fantastic blade.
-
Looks very nice but I personally wouldn't buy a Salix as I know they hold back their better willow for sponsored players

And Bigger companies don't?
-
Bigger companies give better bats to first class or international players, they give stock bats to most other sponsored players.
-
Salix, as far as I'm aware, only sponsor Sam Northeast? Also do you know Salix don't simply give stock bats to Northeast?
-
I know 2 youth County cricketers who are sponsored. The bats Salix give sponsored players have a little sticker on the edge to show this. It might just be a gimmick but the two I have seen certainly were extremely nice!
-
sam northeast has been using blank bats this season

This is not to say that the bats are not 'special' salixes, it's just that maybe no first class players are now salix sponsored...
-
I saw him using one Vs. Durham
-
£290, (No Swearing Please) the bed. :O

So didn't you just contradict yourself by saying they do save their best bats for their sponsored players?
-
He said Salix do that.
-
When I saw him playing for Kent last week he was using a Salix with some very subtle (new, I believe) silver stickers.
-
Maybe be Salix should start using 'blank' as their brand identity? Not such a bad idea?
In certain youth cultures showing off of labels and brands is now seen as naff. Perhaps cricket equipment could go a similar way? ;)
-
By the way, do people think Salix will be able to hold on to Northeast?
-

Knowing Salix they would call it 'Vacuus' - in line with the latin theme.
Stickers will always sell, different stickers appeal to different peoplle - i cant see the blank appealing to many, most of the time people like to be assocciated with a brand when they buy a bat........especially those Laver owners, dont see many blank lavers around!!!
-
I love my blank Newbery!
-
Sam Northeast has the boyish good looks required to be targeted by Adidas, I reckon.
-
Definitely going to GN ;)

Huckster , in your opinion would you say there are not many more attractive cricketers than Sam?
-
Lol

Very few.
-
But then I find blank bats attractive...
-
So you like judging cricketers and blank bats .... different haha

To? Judging bats in pretty much what this forum is about, is it not. My personal preference is for without stickers.
-
I'm only messing mate, nothing wrong with blank bats! I like plain/blank softs so nothing wrong with that. I was joking about the sam comment, however kp is a hunk ;) jokesss
-
kp is a hunk
Now there's someone who doesn't understand the merits of plain or understated.
-
:D haha banter!!
Give us a smile hunkster! oops i mean huckster....
