Post by: pacman75cricket on June 21, 2010, 10:58:11 AM
Hi,

I have just removed face applied at start of season to a brand new bat, due to enforced layoff & fact that get tiny nicks I have removed tape and face sanded and oiled, question do I need to knock the bat in again

if you have sanded a little off then no, but if you sanded a lot off it may be worth doing another hour or so.

Knocking in compresses the top layer of the bat; he may have sanded it away if he sanded it a lot.

Removed face and ver light sanding so I take it knocking in not needed just tapped a few balls and thought it had left seam mark, may have been softer due to recent application of oil.
