Since I am in Canada so we have really harsh winters and I was told that I should keep my bat in open air so they get air ventaliation.
So now in summer I will be away for couple of months so my question is that is there any specific guideline one should follow when it comes to store bats?
Cheers

Nonsense. Shed is sometimes advised because of moisture level of the air. But read Tim Keely in All Out Cricket say that room temperature is fine. Keep away from radiators, obviously.

Thanks mate
Where can I read Tim Keely's comments?
At the moment they are lying in my closet so I believe that's fine and that's where I should leave for rest of the summer, right?
-
Leave them in the house, as long as they are not getting wet or in a damp place they will be fine.
Newbery wrote those articles, credited to Tim as he is the bat maker, he wasn't aware of them until he got given a copy of the magazine....

Mike, should I put some oil on back/ shoulder area on new bats for moisture prevention or does not need as they are wax finished ??.

Leave it under your bed, easy method :)

I would not oil after the first couple of coats as it only deadens the willow and increases the weight.

The magazine was about six months ago.

This is contrary to what Newbery tell you to do, though?
I think I was rubbished when I suggested that this was why pros did not oil bats.

The oil is applied to stop moisture loss in the playing surface, most bats are faced or pretty well sealed after a season so no need to add weight to the bat. Pro's don't trend to oil, knock or anything else as they get the best and it is disposable to them.

Nasser Hussain once said that if he could have kept one bat for his whole career he would have done.
