Hi guys,
Basically my dad got some free cricket gear from freecycle, slazenger v600 pads, some old gloves and thighguard. Then there was a slazenger bat that had some of the stickers removed. when i tapped it on the ground i felt the handle flexing, when i removed the grip i saw there was a big crack in it.
So, does anyone know what bat it could have been? - long shot
Can it be fixed, and at what price roughly?
Thanks guys

sorry about the size of the pics! :-[
-
Probably just a re-handle, which is usually about £40. Whoever does that will be able to snad it down and tidy it up a bit, although tbf it looks pretty good already
-
ok, bit more expensive than i thought. ill probably get my dad to strengthen the handle enough to have a net with it and decide if its worth the money. used it for 5 mins have gentle throwdowns in the garden and it felt pretty good :)
-
I think thats what a re-handle costs. Maybe ask a few of the bat gurus on here who do refurbs for a more accurate cost
-
Because of the grey/black Logo on the back and the big profile, I would guess it's an Se model from 05/06 that Collingwood used. The model could be Ultimate, however it could also be Elite pro.
-
ooh, sounds promising, i was surprised at the profile when i first saw it i measured 31mm edges and roughly 50mm spine
-
think the handle has had its day by the looks of it, looks like some one has tried to use polyfiller to try and stiffen it up again! could end up with a 2 part bat if you swing it at a ball ;)
-
i think i may have realised that already tom ;)
-
in that case sorry for pointing out the obvious.....re-handle £20-£25 (if you also didnt know thats as well)
-
lol the bat does actually wobble on the end of the handle when lifted- a very odd sensation must be said.
i know everything but thats besides the point ;)
thanks for the info :)
-
if u knew everything...u would know what model of bat it is ;)
-
Could that be a V900 Slaz?
-
dont think so, the back sticker is the wrong colour and size i think?

How about a Slazenger V99.9?
-
nothing much came up for that in google, any info on the slaz v99.9?
-
Was the Slaz 99.9 the special Bradman edition they made, I could be wrong though
-
if it was, the original bradman one had the engraving on the front, so its not that and the one with stickers has dots/spots on the back panther wheras this has slazenger written on it and lots of mini panthers. It looks similar to the SXI, SE etc models aprt from the side sticker on the shoulder is different and this has one halfway down the edge.
-
Deffo a slaz V1200 always wanted one!
-
Deffo not!
Stickers look V1200-esque, but they have a very disticnt profile, a la V12 and this isn't it!
-
V1200 had a black panther on back anyway not grey
-
any other ideas?
talisman/norbs/anyone?
-
The back cat sticker is a late addition to the bat, the old V6/8/900 series bats had the cat facing in the other direction. I would assume that the back sticker has been peeled off an SXI and been placed on this bat, which I would think is a Slazenger V600.
-
Profile wise I would have gone with V600, but the stickers were throwing me off. Tom's explanation would make sense
-
is this the one you mean?

the profile doesnt look the same if it is ???
-
No, that's an Aussie model.
-
ah ok, thanks
-
for re-handle you could try warsop,
they charge £34, but if u ring them u could get a bit of a discount.
-
not really worth the postage as well, i live near choice so ill probably get it done there. my dad did a temporary job on the handle and i tryed it out today, got 23* of 14 balls, i like it a lot :)
-
I reckon this is a CA made SXI. I recall the sticker, these bats were a big hit a few years back. I am saying CA made coz the profile is very similar to the ones CA made and the edge size is pretty massive as well. Nice willow there and i reckon this bat would be good. I know that my Slaz goes like a train.
-
it does go well, but would the ca sxi have had those old style side stickers? thanks everyone for the suggestions btw :)
-
Yes hey had the same stickers as those in UK. As far as i know, atleast a part of Slazenger's production was done by CA back then and this might still be the case but i am not sure. Is the handle oval or round, that should actually be a big help if it is indeed made by CA or otherwise.
-
erm i cant remember :( its being rehandled atm si ill find out in 2 weeks!
-
Was the Slaz 99.9 the special Bradman edition they made, I could be wrong though
its deffo not a V99.9 as i have one and its a diff shape and yes they were a Bradman special ed (only 500 made i think)
-
I think it's a V600. Most of the Classic Vs had disappeared by that sticker range, and the V1200 had an "elongated" V12 shape. The one I bought off ebay, which was an ultimate, had a laser etched panther in the toe, and on use in the nets turned out not to have a middle and made a dull thunk when the ball hit it. That has since been relegated to keeping the fire going.
